A West Virginia teen arrested and accused of nearly inciting a riot after a confrontation with a teacher over his National Rifle Association t-shirt has inspired dozens of students across his county to wear similar apparel in solidarity.
Jared Marcum, 14, had a confrontation Thursday with a Logan Middle School teacher over his NRA t-shirt, which bears the organization’s logo, along with an image of a hunting rifle and the phrase, “Protect your right.”
Marcum’s lawyer, Ben White, said that when the teen was told to remove the shirt or turn it inside out, he attempted to engage the teacher in a debate.
…White said that Marcum had been wearing the shirt without causing any problems from homeroom at the beginning of the school day through fifth period, and was confronted by one of the school’s teachers while getting his lunch. When Jared refused to remove or reverse the shirt, the teacher began to raise his voice, and it caught the attention of students eating their lunch, White said.
Marcum was eventually arrested and taken away by police after refusing to remove the shirt. White said that when police told the teen they were going to arrest him, he stuck his hands out and said, “Fine.”
Of course, had it been Che’s stylin’ mug, it’d been all hunky dory ALL day.
I’d sue the piss out of the school and GOOD for the kids wearing shirts the next day.
You know, where they might have gone over these words:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
I can’t bring myself to link to the site but Drudge has the link, showing Boston police in full SWAT gear forcing people out of their homes at gunpoint to look for Dokey.
It is for EXACTLY these situations that our Constitution was written. Assuming the video is accurate the police have absolutely no justification for what they are doing.
Oh wait, it’s “for the children.”
It’s “common sense ways” to find a dangerous criminal.
Texas Fertilizer Plant Didn’t Heed Disclosure Rules Before Blast
The fertilizer plant that exploded on Wednesday, obliterating part of a small Texas town and killing at least 14 people, had last year been storing 1,350 times the amount of ammonium nitrate that would normally trigger safety oversight by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Yet a person familiar with DHS operations said the company that owns the plant, West Fertilizer, did not tell the agency about the potentially explosive fertilizer as it is required to do, leaving one of the principal regulators of ammonium nitrate—which can also be used in bomb-making—unaware of any danger there.
Fertilizer plants and depots must report to the DHS when they hold 400 lb (180 kg) or more of the substance. Filings this year with the Texas Department of State Health Services, which weren’t shared with DHS, show the plant had 270 tons of it on hand last year.
Wow! This could be one particular of the most beneficial blogs We have ever arrive across on this subject. Basically Fantastic. I’m also an expert in this topic so I can understand your hard work.
Strangest “reportedly” true actually true Boston Marathon Bombing fact
Statement of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic on the Boston terrorist attack 19.04.2013 / 21:27
As many I was deeply shocked by the tragedy that occurred in Boston earlier this month. It was a stark reminder of the fact that any of us could be a victim of senseless violence anywhere at any moment.
As more information on the origin of the alleged perpetrators is coming to light, I am concerned to note in the social media a most unfortunate misunderstanding in this respect.
The Czech Republic and Chechnya are two very different entities – the Czech Republic is a Central European country; Chechnya is a part of the Russian Federation.
As the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman noted in his message to President Obama, the Czech Republic is an active and reliable partner of the United States in the fight against terrorism. We are determined to stand side by side with our allies in this respect, there is no doubt about that.
But here my friends is a real and true goddamned Hero in all of this
BOSTON’S extraordinary manhunt began with eight words, written down by one of the victims of the marathon bombing, who has now been hailed a hero.
He wrote: “Bag, saw the guy, looked right at me”.
Jeff Bauman had been waiting for his girlfriend to cross the finish line when a man wearing a cap, sunglasses and a black jacket over a hooded sweatshirt looked him in the eyes and dropped a bag at his feet.
Two and a half minutes later, the bag exploded, tearing the 27-year-old’s legs apart.
A picture of him in a wheelchair, bloodied and ashen, was broadcast around the world as he was rushed to Boston Medical Centre. He lost both legs below the knee.

The first thing he did when he came round, woozy from medication, was to ask his brother, Chris, for some paper and a pen.
“Bag, saw the guy, looked right at me”
He is amazing beyond all words.
Go here to help this wonderful man if you are able.
CINCINNATI (AP) — A popular southwest Ohio air show has canceled plans to stage a re-enactment of the devastating World War II atomic bomb attack on Japan after protests, officials said Thursday.
Dayton Air Show spokeswoman Brenda Kerfoot said the June 22-23 event at Dayton International Airport will keep a planned “Great Wall of Fire” pyrotechnic show but not as an event meant to re-enact the Aug. 6, 1945, bombing of Hiroshima. The B-29 plane “Fifi,” similar to the Enola Gay B-29 bomber used to attack Japan, will remain in the show but in a separate role.
Air show officials said the re-enactment was meant to highlight a historic event that helped end the war and save lives that would have been lost if the war had been prolonged.
Over breakfast today on Capitol Hill, Senator Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) told National Review that his legislation to expand background checks faces an uncertain future. “As we sit here this morning, we don’t have the votes,” he said.
“Now, there are enough undecided people that it’s still possible, but I’ll be the first to admit that there is a very, very narrow path to get to 60 votes,” Toomey said, in an interview hours before the bipartisan plan is scheduled to be considered on the floor.
“It’s disappointing when you put a lot of work into something, and you’re out there in a public way and it doesn’t come together,” he said. “It’s disappointing, but it’s part of this business.”
World leaders gather for the funeral of former British Prime Minister Thatcher
“World leaders” used loosely.
No one from here could be bothered to go, but then, Skippy and his crew of miscreants couldn’t “lead” Shotgun Joe out of the men’s room, less mind the world, could they?
US military claims helicopter ‘hard landing’ near N Korea border
The US military claimed one of its helicopters carrying Marines executed a hard landing near the North Korean border “while conducting routine flight operations”.
A statement said the US Marine Corp. CH-53E Super Stallion had 21 people on board including five crew members, all of whom were taken to hospital.
Within the next two hours, amid frantic phone calls and a panicked drive into Boston, Norden pieced together the horrific truth that will forever change her two sons’ lives — and her own. Each of the brothers lost a leg, from the knee down. One was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess, while the other was at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
(moved here because the auto-play was driving me nuts)
We were just in that exact spot over the weekend, walking around, looking at the marathon tents and other various preparations at the finish line, joking about the HazMat trucks there and saying if I ran one again I would need one, feeling the energy and buzz of all these people zipping about in their running attire as they prepared for the race. The excitement. The joy.
