That was covered in vines
Lived twelve little girls
And two pounds of gorgonzola

And they’re back home today thanks to a spectacular header from the left side. 🙂

    Twisted. But tasty.

“…They left the house at half past nine…
    The smallest one was Madeline.”

    Happy Bastille Day

I have never seen a Madeline plate before! Do you know how many little girls (and little girls at heart) would swoon over that?

Of course, there probably are people swooning over the cheese, too!

  5. Yojimbo says:

Bastille Day! Usually remember that one, my head must be somewhere else today.

  6. I swooned over both, Kate 😉

  7. Mr. Bingley says:

I found a set of these Madeline plates for Daughter in the Village in, gosh, 1996 or 7 I think it was.

Right before she went Eloise on me and her and I went to the Palm Court at the Plaza for tea.

“Tea” which set me back some $80.

You know, many years ago when I was impressionable, I saw one of those very first talkie, black and white versions of, like, Les Miserables, or something. On our black and white TV in the basement, no less ~ an afternoon movie during the week, when they had such things. And when those gnarly, scary mobs started hauling folks out of buildings and off the street to their doom, it really put me off the whole “revolution/Bastille/whoopie doo/Party”. Pretty much on a permanent basis.

  9. Mr. Bingley says:

    Let me eat cake.

  10. JeffS says:

Gorgonzola is a cheese, Mr. Bingley. Not cake.

  11. […] My former neighbor, born and raised in France by French parents, never celebrated Bastille Day since she felt that the French Revolution unchained such violence that she could not celebrate that. However, Mr. Bingley found some cheese worth celebrating. […]

There’s a restaurant here that has the best pear and gorgonzola salad IN THE WORLD. Well, okay, Columbia.
