In The Grand Spirit Of Compromise

The Senate Democrats offer the warm embracing hand of fellowship to the House Republicans

Dear Speaker Boehner,

With five days until our nation faces an unprecedented financial crisis, we need to work together to ensure that our nation does not default on our obligations for the first time in our history. We heard that in your caucus you said the Senate will support your bill. We are writing to tell you that we will not support it, and give you the reasons why.

As Allah perfectly sums it up

So that’s how this story ends. With the party of endless spending and entitlements unto death lecturing fiscal conservatives on how they’re leading the country into a credit downgrade. Perfecto.

We have a long-standing “joke” here in my business about sending a letter like this to someone we really really don’t like:

Dear Sir,

F**$ you.

Strong letter to follow.

Kindest regards and I remain your humble servant,

Bingley

That’s what this letter is, and this is the kind of people who sadly populate the hallowed Halls of Congress on both sides of the aisle. People who are strictly concerned with political gamesmanship and looking to the next election, with ways to enhance and cement their positions of power and prestige, as opposed to people who are actually willing to engage and try and solve the problems we are facing. People who serve their Party’s interests first before serving America’s.

The Senate Democrats have not acted on a budget for over 800 days. They didn’t pass a budget when they controlled both Houses of Congress yet it is somehow the Republicans, as imperfect as they are, who are at fault here? Where is the MSM calling them to task for this? Obama’s last budget proposal was so ludicrous, so out of touch with any semblance of reality that the mere mention of it failed in a 97-0 vote in the Senate. Obama’s own Deficit Reduction Commission issued a clear bipartisan report, which Obama has completely ignored because among other things it called for real “entitlement” reform. Where is the mention of this in the Media?

They are completely in bed with Big Government, Inc.

So now we are being dragged down by preening posturing fools, who see it all in terms of a chess match ahead of the next election cycle. We need to look to the next election as well, as a chance to get rid of as many of these people and their Party-Produced clones as possible.

As a chance to start reducing this monster that Washington has created. Look, I fully accept and understand that we all to a more or less extent allowed its creation, but we all are so deeply on the hook for this monster that we simply must begin cutting it way back.

Methinks that you are far too kind by calling them “preening posturing fools”. Otherwise, spot on.

Ol’ Maverick McCain ain’t helping either. His self-serving hissy fit directed at the incoming Republican Representatives is all over the place in the Media as some sort of damning evidence that the GOP is riven with internal strife and unable to get anything useful done.

Well, if Senator McCain is such great shakes and has such awesome ideas for the economy – why did all y’all vote for the other guy? Shmaybe this wouldn’t have happened?

I really begin to believe that they’re incapable of thought – they just spit out whatever sounds good at the moment, even if it contradicts things they said in the previous five minutes. Democrats are the party of Memento.

I guess I picked the wrong time to work for the government.

So did I, Skyler. So did I.
