Signs Of The Times

or “lack there of” actually.

I hate this election, I really really do.

As has been obvious I haven’t been posting much at all just because I am so disgusted and dispirited by everything attached to and associated with it, and I know I’m not alone in this feeling. Here in Deep Blue New Jersey as I drive around I see hundreds of signs advocating various candidates for various local offices…but interestingly none for the Presidential candidates; and by “none” I do mean none. Thinking back on years past when the yards were festooned with “Gore” and “Obama” and “Bush” signs it is shocking to drive around and see no Trump or Hillary signs; and the lack of Hillary signs is especially so here in New Jersey (and frankly should be very troubling for her and her Party).

There is ONE sign in my town with her name on it, and it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement:

I’m writing in my Bride’s name on my ballot.

My church is in West Windsor. On the way there I see a few Hillary signs on people’s lawns. That’s about the only area I remember seeing them, though. This is just outside Princeton so it’s to be expected I guess.

I haven’t seen many Trump signs, either, but there’s a yuge “Make America Great Again” sign on River Road in Hillsborough.

NJ is such a ‘given’ for the Dems you would think there’d be a bunch of H signs…but really hardly any, and again, not too many Trumps either.

And don’t think that “yuge” went unnoticed! lol

None here in SW FL – and I haven’t seen any bumper stickers either.

And not much talk about “who are you voting for”. Interesting.

“YUGE!” is a Kia dealer thing down here. And around Albany, where Billy Fuccillo originated. Didn’t know it was an election thing, too.

Nonetheless, I hope you all will vote. And not ignore your consciences. At least locally, if you can’t stomach national.

  4. Mr. Bingley says:

oh i’m definitely voting, just not for one of those two main idjits.

Doesn’t your lovely bride object to be associated with the clowns on offer?

BTW, in my part of Texas I’ve seen few Trump signs & (I think) one Hillary bumper sticker.

When I told her I was writing her name in she quite diplomatically said “Like Hell you are.”

Good for her. If Hillary wins, that could get both of you on her hit list.

My Florida friend said to me yesterday that he was going to vote for Hillary, but hoped that she works out for the best and makes good decisions as POTUS. So, I said to my idiot friend, that basically, he was hoping that as POTUS, Hillary would do the exact opposite of what she’s done for the past 30 years. He started to respond, but then stopped. We then finished our martinis in silence.

    @Syd. Good for you.
