    Semantics. Last I checked when you WIN the race, you get AWARDED. Ergo, “Obama WINS the gold.” I love semantics. 😛

    I think a sitting President accepting the Nobel prize violates Article 1 section 9 of the Constitution.I know Woodrow Wilson accepted his,but doesn’t anyone go by the Constitution anymore?

    U.S. Const., Art. I, s. 9:

    ” No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.”

    Is the Prize a title of nobility? No, clearly not. Is the Prize a gift from a “King, Prince or foreign state”? I don’t think so: the Nobel Committee is a private institution created by Alfred Nobel’s will.

    awarded by the King.
    The spirit of Article 1 is what I was referring to.Obama
    should of refused the prize.

    Does anyone think that any congress, let alone a democrat controlled congress would ever refuse to allow the president to be awarded the Nobel?
