Stanley Fish Reviews Sarah Palin…

fairly.

And is promptly rabidly attacked in the comments for his unforgivable sin.

A fun read!

Doing as told, I read some of the comments. Freud would have had a ball with some of those people: they’re the first ones to tell you how smart, evolved and sophisticated they are, sitting at their computers while Palin merely changes the political landscape.

She has to be pretty stupid to do that. Just ask those commenters.

When I dis Obama, it’s because he’s screwing things up. And I try to point out the things that he’s done right. Those are few (and might even be accidental), but I do recognize that.

Palin haters? Not so much. They just hate. Which may be all they are good for.

The commenters are amazing. It’s incredible how much they fear this woman. I don’t get it.

As far as Stanley Fish’s review–he’s a gleeful contrarian who just let off a stinkbomb at the faculty meeting.

Love her or hate her, Palin is an example of everything lefties say can’t or shouldn’t be done. Professional woman, with a family. Anti-abortion, who practices what she preaches. Makes moose chili….after shooting the moose herself. Successful politician with a reformer’s attitude. And she’s a conservative, to boot.

And if there’s one thing that lefties REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hate, it’s reality intruding into their fantasy worlds.

Hate her? Oh, yes, they hates her, they do!

  5. Yojimbo says:

They probably fear her because they have been reading those newspaper accounts of people lining up 36 hours before her book signings. People probably don’t stand there for 36 minutes at an Algore signing.

Because they’re scared he’ll try to eat them.

People *can’t* stand in line for 36 minutes at an Algore signing – it’s too darn cold and rainy every time he shows up. In fact, I suspect that he may have been commuting with me this morning up Route 18. What a mess.

My two favorites of those comments at Fish’s blog:

    1. the person on the first page who said “We don’t need a snarky leader who’ll alienate the rest of the world in this day and age.” True. Too bad we already have one.

    2. I would gladly have typed that reply myself, on the site – but at the bottom I note that the Times have closed the comments to the blog, to go along with the several that were spiked by the page editors. It must’ve gotten a bit snippy in there.
