Well, It’s Time Again
For some caipirinhas, baby
This Água Luca cachaça ain’t cheap, and it’s…meh. Not any real flavor or character.
But with the limes
and merry muddling
it does the trick. But I frankly like some of the $15 or so brands better.
What is differance between caipirinhas and mojitos?
A caipirinha is a lime and sugar muddled together with cachaça on ice.
A mojito is lime, mint, rum and has some soda water added, I believe.
Rum and cachaça taste very different, even though both are distilled from sugar cane.
Oh, I thought the Agua Luca website said it was rum. Probably poor reading comprehension on my part, just now finishing my coffee. :^) Thanks for the info Mr. B.
Shouldn’t you be using icicles instead of ice cubes? Is there a warming trend there in the far North?
It does say ‘rum’, doesn’t it, Bill? I did a little digging and I found this which makes as much sense as anything:
“Rum is usually made from molasses, which is a byproduct of commercial sugar production, while cachaça is made with freshly-pressed sugarcane juice. Some small rum producers in the Caribbean islands also distill fermented cane juice in much the same way that cachaça is made in Brazil.”
Note the Beast lurking in the background…
I just swooned.
