“You Have The Charisma Of A Damp Rag”
Gawd, sometimes I just adore politicians
Ukip MEP Nigel Farage told Herman Van Rompuy, the president of the EU, he had “all the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk” in the European parliament yesterday.
Farage, the former leader of the UK Independence party, also dismissed Van Rompuy’s homeland, Belgium, as a “non-country”.
What an indicative, telling choice to head the EU.
In all fairness to Van Rompuy, UKIP in the European Parliament is like the Alaskan Independence Party would be in the House of Representatives. UKIP doesn’t buy into the whole concept of the EU at all. Farage ought to be glad the EU leadership is weak.
Maybe there is a difference. The UK – in various forms has been a soverign nation for the past 1000 or so years. In that time it has done a few noteworthy things. Some might say that it spread concepts such as equality before the law and lord knows what else.
UKIP last yea beat the governing party of the country into third place in a national election.
A shadowy leadership of the EU is more dangerous to thge nation that a public one.We can see a public one.
Well, sitting on this side of the pond and all I can’t profess to being the most informed on EU procedures and mechanisms, but when even the Guardian is saying that “Farage was rude but right… well, goodness.
Gawain, I adore the UK for all its warts and think that it, along with Australia, are the nations that the US must most firmly tie herself to.
