Robert Byrd Has Died

He was 378 or some such, apparently.

Some implications here.

Update: ok, I can’t say that I’m surprised by this but it still frankly makes me want to barf. In NO WAY do I support a lot of what Strom Thurmond did or stood for, but here’s his obituary in the NYT

That’s history revisionism at its worst.

  2. Rob says:

One of the more petty, vindictive, hypocritical, clutch-power-with-all-his-might partisans that Congress has ever seen. Not a big fan here. Had a sense of humor and played a decent fiddle, though.

  3. Isn’t Clymer the cretin who bragged about licking doorknobs?

  4. Syd says:

How sincere do you think the first black president will be in delivering the eulogy to the former Klansman? Rev. Wright was not available for comment.

  5. ck says:

I think Byrd had to make it to July 8 for a Governor to appoint a successor.

  6. GW says:

What do you expect from a major league a**hole?

  7. Teresa says:

Doesn’t matter how vile you are in life if you belong to the right political party.

  8. nightfly says:

Bings – I know which of them filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act for 14 hours.

  9. major dad says:

Ever drive through West Virginia? The whole damn state is named after him. To para phrase that turd “I would rather the nation go under than stand/fight next to a black man.” Something vile like that as I remember. But he was “changed” man says another world class turd, Paul Begala. Democrat=hypocrite
