   Last year a group of kids turned up and, after initial grumpiness, I told them as they’d gone to so much trouble to dress up I could find them some lollies – did they like X? Of course, silly question!

   I stocked up on lollies, bought a luminous plastic 3ft skeleton, and left the porch light on.

   No kids turned up.

   Anyone want some lollies?

   Halloween is a time of reflection for me as it is the day my Dad died nine years ago. He wasn’t perfect, but he was the only Daddy I had!

   We watched that last night and then followed it up with Nosferatu for our Halloween double feature.

   We were about 2/3rds of the way through that when the power went out…yikes!
