Support Denmark Dinner Saturday February 18th

I'm calling on everyone to eat only Danish foods for dinner on Saturday, February 18th, to support them in their fight against the Cartoonlic Extremists.

From havarti cheese to butter to hams and, of course, Carlsberg (don't buy Tuborg; it's brewed in Baltimore, for gosh sakesKathy K in comments assures me that I have slandered Tuborg, that it is indeed imported, so buy and drink away, dear friends!) there's enough variety and pork-filled goodness to offend darn near everyone, so eat up!

And we'll post a picture filled round up on Sunday.

ths adds: This can be a help, if you're Danish challenged like our household.

Bingley adds: Here's another great site. I mean, who could possibly resist the charms of Flødegullsch, which has both diced pork and cocktail sausages as ingredients?

Update and Bump: Here are some drink recipes.

Bumpity-bump-bump: Tonight I go cheese shopping. I can havarti wait!

Well be adding some cigars to that, because of a particular situation in our neighborhood that has finally been corrected and weve been storing these up for a good celebration. So that sounds perfect! Will try to set up photos myself!

Sounds like a plan!

Sounds like a great idea!

I'd get a piece of Danish but my wife wouldn't understand.

Ham starting earlier than Saturday!

I'm in....as long as it doesn't involve Turducken.

The Tuborg Gold I buy says "imported by Carlsberg USA, Manhasset, NY" on the back... and the front bottle says label says "Brewed and bottled by Tuborg, Copenhagen Denmark" are they lying?

Sure you don't have the wrong beer as being brewed here, considering there's a "Carlsberg USA"?

Any rate, I am buying havarti (Arla), Unfortunately, I can't find any Danish Hams. Much as I like beer and cheese, it doesn't exactly make a good dinner. Maybe lunch.

Really Kathy? I swaer that everytime I drive down I-95 to virginny and take the old harbor tunnel (not the spiffy 'new' Fort McHenry tunnel) I go by a Tuborg Brewery.

I stand corrected and will update the post accordingly.

Heh. i googled and found that the plant I was thinking of closed in 1996, which tells you how long it's been since I took the old tunnel.

Kathy ~ I'm sure the Publix ~ or whoever your favorite chain is ~ down by you has DAK in the canned ham section. Probably in the deli section, too.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at February 14, 2006 09:10 PM

Dave, I think the danish version is "Türdøcken"...

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at February 14, 2006 09:26 PM

Thanks Mr. Bingley, but I think I'll just go with the DAK. I have this thing about removing stitches from the things I eat. Silly I know.

(You'd make a lousy headhunter.)

Posted by: tree hugging sister at February 14, 2006 10:12 PM

Speaking for myself, of course, indeed. I take that as a compliment.

Posted by: Dave E at February 14, 2006 11:51 PM

Can't I just have a danish? Is a cheese one okay?

Posted by: Lisa at February 15, 2006 02:52 PM

I have put out the calls to the in-laws and the crazeee pilot and invited them to join us on Saturday.

Thinking of wearing Princess Leia-style "star puff" (danish ears) as hair style.

Okay, I've got 2 sixpacks of regular Carlsberg and two of Elephant Malt liquor.

and I got a bottle of dansk vodka.

tomorrow I try to find some akvavit and go cheese and ham shopping!
