How

...inconvenient.

(Oh, God, beat me with a wet noodle. That was soo easy cheezey to do, it's ashamed I should be.)

Study: Kilimanjaro's shrinking snow not sign of warming

The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania have been diminishing for more than a century but probably not due to global warming, researchers report.

While the retreat of glaciers and mountaintop ice in the mid-latitudes -- where much of the world's human population lives -- is definitely linked to global climate change, the same cannot be said of Kilimanjaro, the researchers wrote in the July-August edition of American Scientist magazine.

...Most of the retreat occurred before 1953, nearly two decades before any conclusive evidence of atmospheric warming was available, they wrote.

Musta been because Ava Gardner was so freakin' HOT, huh?

I was thinking more because Gregory Peck was a GOD, but yeah. Basically the same reason.

Um yeah. It's also old news.

Really old news.

As in, it was known decades ago that deforestation near the Big K's base was the cause.

The actual facts doen't matter to the Truth Beliefevers, they never have - it only matters that there is less snow and since "deforestation" is a Sin of Man in their wheat-germ bible, it's all the same.

You ain't kidding it doesn't matter. Went through a bloody awful argument with a friend over this. I pointed out the studies showing deforestation was the problem, and it flat didn't matter: human-caused global warmering was the problem. The 'experts' said so, and anyone who disagreed either
A: didn't know
B: was not a 'real' scientist
C: refused to read the 'real' story.

Finally just gave up.
