Quote of the Day

...I want a single malt with a name I can’t pronounce and a creamy, austere label that tells a complicated story about ancient sherry casks and peat and heather and weird little islands full of taciturn Presbyterians.

Indeed, heartfelt words and a righteous tenet worth holding fast.

full of taciturn Presbyterians

Is there any other kind?

I've tried - twice, now - to develop a taste for Scotch. I just can't do it. Now a good, aged tequila on the other hand...but like Scotch, it has to be sipped. That nonsense about slamming it down with lime and salt is for heathens.

...Lagavulin, or Laphroaig, or Dalwhinnie.

Brings a tear to my eyes, it does.

Eric,

Like you, I never developed a taste for Scotch. My former drinking self was a tequila-slamming heathen, though. Man, I miss that.

I've sworn off tequila. We just never got along.

If I want liquor I actually like the taste of, it's rum. If, OTOH, I want an "experience" to tell my more mature grandkids someday...yeah, tequila it is.

Had some single malt (The Glenlivet french oak reserve 15 yr)last night, mighty tasty stuff. Never was a scotch type till I tried the single malts. As far as the blends don't care for them except that Johnnie Walker Blue Label, that is one fine drink. Some how the the question "I did what?" always got asked after a tequila night.

Have more than a few of those on my resumé, Major.

I'm with Major Dad on that - I wasn't a Scotch drinker till I tried the single malts. Now... well... I'm a Scotch drinker. I'll drink a few of the blended now too. (If it's that or nothing.)

Tequila I liked in my younger days but don't have much taste for it anymore. (Tequila, salt and lemon - I'm not much for mixed drinks.)
