Leadership?
My Bride and I were talking last night about how low and, well, petty Obama is. Seriously. With all the insanity and uncertainly in the world at the moment what is required is a calm, reassuring, firm hand on the tiller. And what do we have? A Doomsayer In Chief. Henny Penny Goes To Washington. A president who singles out media pundits for specific criticism and attack. Good god. What has been said about Obama so far has been nothing compared to the invective and vitriol hurled at Bush and Clinton over the past 16 years. Did you ever once hear a journalist or pundit singled out in a Presidential news conference or briefing the way we've seen Limbaugh and now Cramer just yesterday? Of course not. Those men, regardless of the rightness or wrongness of their actions knew that such petulant childlike behavior was beneath the dignity of their office, their nation...and themselves.
But now we have a President who's never faced criticism before, who's never had his ideas and plans given anything but fawning praise before, and like any spoiled adolescent he's lashing out instead of considering that perhaps maybe there's the slightest of chances he might be, er, um, how does one put this gracefully...wrong? It's almost as if he's never had any executive experience, really, but that can't be: he was after all a community organizer.
"Obama": It's Kenyan for "thin skinned"

I had the ill-fortune to catch a few minutes of one of the network "morning shows" today.
Some advisor to Obama was talking about Porkulus and "stimulating the economy" and his main thrust was "But we inherited such a bad situation."
DAMMMIT. I am tired of whiners. STFU and just deal with it. Stop blaming Bush. I know, I know, when this thing tanks and we're even worse off they're all going to continue to say "OOOOOH, it's BUSH'S fault! He left us a BAD situation!" Well, then, why was your guy SO EAGER to take it?

(And you can tell I'm really PO'd, because I spelled DAMMIT with three Ms)

This morning I watched a show on the mothers of presidents and listened to George H. W. Bush tell stories about his mother teaching him to 'give the other fellow credit', take his lumps like a man and do what's right no matter the personal cost. I think he pretty well lived his mother's lessons and passed them on to his son. Manners don't go out of style, too bad it's looking like The Won didn't learn them.

Ricki - I thought that was intentional, sort of like a "daaaayyyyyyymmmmmm" moment. =)
I feel a little bit sad for the Big O, here. Like Bings said, he's been sheltered nearly his entire professional life. Whatever criticism he did get earlier has been carefully whitewashed. Instead of dealing with it he simply covered it up. Unfortunately his personal issues are likely enough going to drive him to sticking stubbornly with the decisions that are driving the economy into the side of a mountain. He's the Isiah Thomas of the presidency.
I just made myself scared.

What's really amazing to me is that Obama makes Bill Clinton look really good in retrospect. Who'd'a thunk it.

"Putz" covers it admirably, I think.

"President Putz" does have a nice ring to it, mojo.
Or should that be "Presidential Putz"?

Air Putz One?
I seen thrill some legs
I seen him cash some checks
I saw every roll call pass him by
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I seen a President cry
I seen the racist rev
Who gave him lefty cred
I seen him scold, shimmy, and lie
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I seen a President cry
I once saw him make all of Germany blush
And they tell me that chucked Grandma under the bus
I saw his books that made the MSM blurb
Rumor has it that he didn't write a word
He's gonna raise some tax
Cut and run in Iraq
Putin laughed 'til he thought he'd die
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see the President cry
When I see the President cry...

Even all of Obama's cheerleaders at my place of work have been strangely silent. They just do not want to touch the subject of their Putzident and his performance thus far.

"Putzident"!!!! We have a winnah!!!!!
Posted by: JeffS at March 4, 2009 07:46 PM
Jeez. When he started using Clinton retreads in cabinet posts, I was heartened. I thought maybe the grownups would still be in charge.
But man... It's going south in a hurry.

Can Ricki, or anyone else, explain how 100% of this mess belongs to Bush when the 2006-2008 congress had a democratic majority?
Posted by: Cynic In Denial at March 4, 2009 11:14 PM
Everything is Bush' fault.
It's that simple.
