“Can I Hug You?”

I’m so happy you’re safe!

The KHOU reporter who saw a semi-truck stalled in rising water in a spot where, the year before, another truck driver had drowned in his stalled truck, flagged down a passing sheriff’s truck and boat to save the day.

Their signal was lost right after the sheriffs starting putting their boat in the water. This is what happened:

Houston, wet or dry, you must be quite a city, judging by the quality of people you have there.

Since All Our Eyes Were Glued to Texas

…the enfant terribles of AntiFa figured they could go on an umimpeded violence rampage in Berkeley last night, and that no one would notice.

Berkeley cops didn’t ~ they made sure they huddled together for shelter ~ but other folks took note.

My Words for You All to Live By Today

This Article in USA Today

…was supposed to shoot straight at the old heart strings, in the “how can anyone QUESTION her willingness to serve?!?!/ Donald Trump is MEAN and SUCKS!!!!!” vein.

But when you READ it – and the very careful phrasing the few military members who serve with her used when interviewed – it quite specifically makes the VERY PRACTICAL POINTS we’ve brought up repeatedly. Trans are FRAGILE. Far more fragile than flat footed folks, who are not allowed in to begin with. They are non-deployable (read that as: WORTHLESS TO THEIR UNIT) for YEARS. LITERALLY.

Transgender US soldier felt ‘fired’ by Trump’s tweet

The subject line read: “Announcing a personal change.”

The U.S. Army soldier took a deep breath before hitting the button that sent the email to more than 200 fellow troops.

“All considered, I am, and have been, traversing what is essentially a personal matter, but is something I must address publicly,” the email stated. “I am transgender.”

The April 13 email officially ended the secret that burned inside Capt. Jennifer Sims, who was known as Jonathan Sims. But the feeling of relief swiftly turned to unease last week after President Donald Trump tweeted that transgender troops were no longer welcome.

“I read the tweet while I was at work and you know it was devastating because I still have work to do and here I am reading basically what sounds like the president of the United States — who is the commander in chief, he is the ultimate boss of the military — telling me and anybody else that is transgender that we are fired,” Sims said.

Okay. I understand being upset, but let’s take a look at what your gender dysphoria is costing your UNIT…

…Sims has been on hormone therapy by her military doctor since November.

If she interrupts the treatment, her body will revert to being male.

“It would be very difficult to have to go through that,” said Sims, who is based at Hohenfels, a U.S. Army garrison in the German state of Bavaria…

Okay. So “since November” means she’s been taking the drugs for 10 months. So far, lost to her unit for TEN MONTHS. How’s the unit handling that and what’s next?

…Shorter had a lot of questions “being naturally curious and wanting to be a good friend because we didn’t really have a personal relationship. He’s, excuse me, she’s — see I still slip up sometimes — a single captain. I’m married with two daughters. Our lives are different.”

Shorter, 32, of Alanson, Michigan, describes himself as conservative. He said he struggles with his beliefs about what’s appropriate. An assistant operations officer for the battalion, Shorter is concerned about how Sims cannot deploy while undergoing medical procedures.

But Shorter, speaking on his own behalf and not that of the Army, said he would be “incredibly disappointed” if Sims, the best signal officer he has seen, were kicked out.

After Trump’s tweet, a few soldiers, including Shorter, asked Sims how she was doing. She didn’t know what to say.

Her pills will run out in three months. Doctors recommend 12 months of hormone therapy before surgery. The cost of her surgery can run close to $50,000, which Sims was expecting the military would help cover….

So she has to have a full year – UNDEPLOYABLE – on hormone treatments before she can have the surgery, which renders her, again, UNDEPLOYABLE darn near another year, on average, thanks to recuperative time and tons of counseling requirements. No pregnant woman EVER cost the service that. I’m sick of the argument.

Just WHERE does “the GOOD of the service” come into this again?

It DOESN’T. NONE of this is “GOOD” for the service OR, most importantly, the service MEMBERS who have to pick up the slack/take the overseas dets/get shot at/blown up more than they should have to because #feelingz allow their fellow servicemembers #SpecialStatus. The military is shorthanded enough as it is. And here THIS unit might well be losing the “best signal officer” they’ve seen.

What GOOD is she to the Army? How does she make it better? The Army is NOT required to be “good” to her. YOU have to bring something to the table besides a sunny disposition.

Then the practical matters of deploying. What happens in the hills of Afghanistan when the hormone pills didn’t arrive in the last shipment? What happens when the trans males, who still (because they were BORN with it) have their female bone structure, start to break down on humps? Testosterone doesn’t give you man-bones, nor change your pelvis.

Let’s not ignore the lifelong hormonal treatments the government picks up FOREVER (the fact that male to female trans get to keep their prostate, so there’s that to worry about, too), or that the VA is on the hook for any medical expenses incurred related to the surgery FOREVER, because it occurred during the service member’s period of service. A trans is basically a rated disability upon discharge from the service, with lifetime privilege.

No pregnant woman EVER cost the service that. And I’m sorry. When we’re looking at stripping one Basic Allowance for Housing payment away from married active duty couples because MONEY…we sure as Hell don’t have the bling for this.

Nope. The article makes the argument FOR the ban so much better than it makes the argument against it.

I offer up THIS little gem about a couple of young, on-the-ball San Franciscans who jumped on a good deal when they saw it.

Rich SF residents get a shock: Someone bought their street

Thanks to a little-noticed auction sale, a South Bay couple are the proud owners of one of the most exclusive streets in San Francisco — and they’re looking for ways to make their purchase pay.

Tina Lam and Michael Cheng snatched up Presidio Terrace — the block-long, private oval street lined by 35 megamillion-dollar mansions — for $90,000 and change in a city-run auction stemming from an unpaid tax bill. They outlasted several other bidders.

Now they’re looking to cash in — maybe by charging the residents of those mansions to park on their own private street.

Those residents value their privacy — and their exclusivity. Past homeowners have included Sen. Dianne Feinstein and her financier husband, Richard Blum; House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi; and the late Mayor Joseph Alioto. A guard is stationed round the clock at the stone-gate entrance to the street to keep the curious away.

So imagine the residents’ surprise when San Jose residents Cheng and Lam wound up with the street, its sidewalks and every other bit of “common ground” in the private development that has been managed by the homeowners since at least 1905. That includes a string of well-coiffed garden islands, palm trees and other greenery that enhance the gated and guarded community at the end of Washington Street, just off Arguello Boulevard and down the hill from the Presidio.

“We just got lucky,”said Cheng, a real estate investor.

Of course, once said bazillionaires realized their paltry, neglected tax bill had suddenly become someone else’s taxable property, it was TWO. YEARS. LATER.

Nothing like being on-the-ball.

So they’re suing. Of course. The city to vacate the sale, the kids to stop them from reselling to another buyer (it might “complicate” them getting the tax case dismissed), etc. ad nauseum.

Do you think for two seconds you could sue one of them TWO YEARS LATER if they bought your property because of an unsatisfied tax lien? Oh, HAY-YULL no. You’d be laughed out of court, if they even let you file.

So. Smile while you read this.

Trump Was Nothing But Slabs of RED MEAT

…in West Virginia tonight ~ big, bloody slabs slapped across the counter time after time, again and again. His (hard) working class audience ate that up and so, frankly, did we sitting on the couch in Pensacola. It was NOTHING if not a celebration of PRIDE in this beat-to-snot country of ours, a booming expression of optimism for the future (Not HOPE, mind you, but a full throated roar of WE ARE AMERICA AND NOBODY DOES IT BETTER). Plus a big middle finger to every Russian obsessed Dem, Repub and media type who are still scraping along “looking for a crime,” as Krauthammer puts it.

Those people (and the thousands outside the arena who couldn’t make it in) were fired up and so was Trump. It wasn’t oratory. It was plain speaking.

And it wasn’t long before our betters in the media were explaining how pathetic those souls are and then carefully wiping their glasses after scribing meticulously wrought condescension of the most elite sort.

*sniff*

Stu Rothenberg’s tale of being burdened by a coal mining father-in-law was so carefully structured, I felt it incumbent upon me to help him flesh it out. You know – say what he was YEARNING to say, if only his sense of delicacy wasn’t so strong, his innate sense of his societal place and its responsibilities to the lower orders so refined after years of practice that free expression is prohibited.

Don’t worry your pretty creases, Stu. I got your back.

I have the unique ability to transcend class barriers and am not ashamed to assist when needed in translation.

But Just “Carry On,” England

Carry on. EXACTLY as before.

Manchester

The morning tally for the carnage is 22 dead ~ mostly little girls of giggly, go-to-girlie-concerts-in-tutus age ~ and 119 wounded from a “sophisticated” IED (“made by an expert”) packed with nails, detonated by someone “known to authorities.”

Oh, yeah ~ the Death Cult has come out claiming responsibility and doing their ghoulish victory lap.

ISIS have claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at a packed Manchester pop concert which killed 22 people, including children, and injured 120 others.

The terror group said ‘one of the caliphate’s soldiers placed bombs among the crowds’ at the Ariana Grande concert last night, in the most deadly terror attack Britain has seen since the 7/7 bombings.

Traumatised families have told how of nuts and bolts tore into young music fans when the blast was detonated in the foyer area of the Manchester Arena moments after a concert by the US popstar ended.

Police this morning confirmed that the suicide bomber, who was known to authorities, died inside the arena. US security sources said the bomber had travelled to the venue on public transport.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by anti-terror officers in the south of the city as police and security services attempt to work out if the suicide bomber was part of a cell. Security sources have told MailOnline that initial analysis of the ‘sophisticated’ device suggests it was made by an expert.

Anybody tired of this shit YET?

The Independent paper in England is already saying the best way to beat the terrorists is to “carry on exactly as before,” which is what the English’ve done death after death after death. Well, besides worry that all the carnage caused by the monsters in their midst will somehow upset, intimidate and frighten the communities in their midst which birth, harbor and nurture such monsters. The first priority besides bandages, flowers, candles and sidewalk shrines has been these cloistered, coddled communities’ feelings, not foaming, unmitigated outrage at the death caused by them. Do you see that changing? We have been weeping and “carrying on” since Miss Emily of It Comes In Pints said “England! FUCK YEAH!” after the tube bombings in 2005. TWO THOUSAND FIVE!!!

And bollocks has changed for the British in England.

I asked last night and will keep asking, even though the answer sickens me. Is there no lion left in the English soul?

Is there no England left in the British heart?

Absolutely NOTHING to See Here

…Because of the suspicious circumstances and fear for the man’s safety, the men were placed in the squad while officers searched their car.

Inside, the officers found a hand grenade, handgun, assault rifles and magazines and a large quantity of ammunition, the complaint said. They also found cellphones, computers and electronics equipment, including drone parts.

Bomb squad personnel called to the scene noted that the large amount of ammunition and electronic devices could be used for bomb-making, the complaint said…

And his name WASN’T “Fred Smith.”

People Are Just Getting So Damned…Weird

I’m sorry, I just don’t get this at all

A mother fears a burglar has eaten her son’s placenta after it was stolen from her freezer, alongside frozen meat.

Auckland mother Loralie Burns said she received the disturbing news from her former landlord on Saturday.

The 35-year-old recently moved houses within the suburb of Sunnyvale, but her washing machine and fridge-freezer were still at the old property.

A thief ransacked the vacant house, rifling through kitchen cupboards and making off with the contents of the freezer: Some meat that was due to be thrown out, and a Tupperware container holding something far more precious.

“My mind’s still blown,” Burns said. “In the freezer was some meat that was supposed to go in the rubbish, and a plastic container that has my placenta in it.”

Burns kept the placenta after giving birth to her now-5-month-old son, Dante. She said it had huge sentimental value, and her family had planned to bury it somewhere significant.

Why in the name of hell would you have that in your freezer?

Just no.

No.

What’s That Old Saying About If You’re Not Sure Of The Answer…

STRIKING FEAR In CHARLOTTE

WHITE SUPREMACISTS…

…from the Rachel Dolezal school of cultural appropriation and intimidation.

I’m just glad the Charlotte police had the sense to get ALL this out STAT, before the CIS white supremacists had their houses and business attacked again by the outraged non-Dolezal/Sean King race reenactors, because Trump/white privilege. WHEW! Hopefully dodged a non-lethal crowd control projectile of the racially charged type.

What A Weaselly Pile Of Poop

Seriously. So the Chair of the Richmond Fed, a guy making $350k per year, disclosed some confidential information to a hedge fund in 2012. And then lied about it repeatedly.

But it’s OK because, well, in his own words

Statement Of Dr. Jeffrey Lacker

During the past 13 years it has been my privilege to serve as President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. It has also been an honor to contribute to the development of our nation’s monetary policy as a member of the Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (“FOMC”).

While transparency of the monetary policy process is important, equally important are the confidentiality policies that protect the internal deliberations of the FOMC and ensure the integrity of our financial markets. The Federal Reserve’s confidentiality policies seek to guide participants in maintaining the balance between transparency and confidentiality. The FOMC has had in place for many years two specific policies relating to confidentiality. the FOMC Policy on External Communications of Committee Participants (the “External Communications Policy-) and the Program for Security of FOMC Information (the “Information Security Policy”).

In 2012, my conduct was inconsistent with those important confidentiality policies. Specifically, on October 2, 2012, I spoke by phone with an analyst (“the Analyst”) concerning the September 2012 meeting of the FOMC. The Analyst authors reports on Federal Reserve matters on behalf of Medley Global Advisors (“Medley’). Medley publishes macro-economic policy intelligence for institutions such as hedge funds and asset managers and is owned by the Financial Times Limited.

During that October 2, 2012 discussion, the Analyst introduced into the conversation an important non-public detail about one of the policy options considered by participants prior to the meeting. Due to the highly confidential and sensitive nature of this information, I should have declined to comment and perhaps have ended the phone call. Instead, I did not refuse or express my inability to comment and the interview continued. Additionally, after that phone call I did not, as required by the Information Security Policy, report to any FOMC personnel that the Analyst was in possession of confidential FOMC information. When Medley published a report by the Analyst the following day, October 3, 2012, it contained this important detail about one of the policy options and I realized that my failure to decline comment on the information could have been taken by the Analyst, in the context of the conversation, as an acknowledgment or confirmation of the information.

I deeply regret the role I may have played in confirming this confidential information and in its dissemination to Medley’s subscribers. In this episode, as in all of my communications with analysts, journalists and the public, it was never my intention to reveal confidential information. I further acknowledge that through this and other conversations with the Analyst, I may have contravened the External Communications Policy, which prohibits providing any profit-making person or organization with a prestige advantage over its competitors.

Following these events, I was interviewed on December 10, 2012, as part of an internal review conducted by the General Counsel of the FOMC. In advance of that interview, on December 6, 2012, I provided written responses to a questionnaire issued by the General Counsel seeking, among other things, all relevant information regarding my communications with the Analyst. Although it was my intention to cooperate fully with the internal review, I regret that I did not disclose to the General Counsel, either in my December 6, 2012 questionnaire or the December 10, 2012 interview, that the Analyst was in possession of confidential information during my conversation with her on October 2,2012.

See, that’s all that matters for our Betters, that they intend to be truthful.

The fact that they all lie like a bunch of bloodsucking scum is irrelevant.

Hey, here’s a fun fact: did you know that the Federal Reserve spent $1.6 billion dollars of your money in 2012 on…salaries?

Consequences.

They’re for suckers like you and me.

Canadian Cannibal

Maybe you all will remember our “spirited” back and forth years ago on the relative merits of Canadian bus passengers sitting on their asses as one of their fellow passengers gets his poor head sawed off, then gnawed on? You know, the same “sat on their asses” do-nothings who decided two years later they were SO TRAUMATIZED they had to sue the bus company?

Yeah. THOSE guys.

Well, the lunatic who caused all this grief IS, in classic Canadian fashion, NOW a free man.

FREEDOM GRANTED TO MAN WHO BEHEADED BUS PASSENGER IN CANADA

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — A Canadian man who was found not criminally responsible for beheading and cannibalizing a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus has been granted his freedom.

Manitoba’s Criminal Code Review Board announced Friday it has given Will Baker, formerly known as Vince Li, an absolute discharge, meaning he is no longer subject to monitoring.

Baker, a diagnosed schizophrenic, killed Tim McLean, a young carnival worker who was a complete stranger to Baker, in 2008. A year later he was found not criminally responsible due to mental illness.

NOT SUBJECT TO MONITORING” Heh.

“He is no longer a violent person,” Summerville said. “I will say, yes, he absolutely understands that he has to (take his medication) and has a desire to live a responsible, moral life and never succumb to psychotic episodes and not to hurt anybody ever again.”

That should turn out well.

And WHEN it does, I sure hope the NEXT round of Canadians who have half a chance to distract him while he’s in the process of murdering another human being in a most horrific fashion…um…DO SO.

Well I Have To At Least Give Them Credit For Honesty

Romania decriminalizes some government graft

Romania’s new leftist government late on Tuesday decriminalized a number of graft offences including some abuse-of-power cases in the ex-communist state’s biggest retreat on anti-corruption reforms since it joined the European Union a decade ago.

…Romania is one of Europe’s most corrupt states, with graft rife in state administration and many areas of public life. Efforts to stamp out abuse have accelerated over the past four years.

Prosecutors have indicted nearly 2,000 people in cases involving abuse of power that have caused damages totaling up to 1 billion euros in the past three years.

…Several leading politicians are under investigation or on trial in abuse-of-power cases, including the leader of the ruling Social Democrats and lower house Speaker Liviu Dragnea.

The emergency decree – which takes effect immediately – would decriminalize some offences, including abuse of power causing financial damage of less than 200,000 lei ($48,000).

So the government officials now give themselves leave to abuse their power to steal up to $48,000 from you with no consquences.

I imagine $48k goes quite a long way in Romania…which has an average annual salary of $6,600.

Graft: it’s what governments do.

Their Headgear Was Also Functional

God bless them, EVERY one.

Left Suddenly Not So Hot on Police Accountability

Oh, there’s NOTHING REMOTELY SUSPICIOUS about THIS:

Why DC Police Body Cameras Will Be Off as Officers Monitor Inauguration Protests

All D.C. cops have body cameras. All D.C. cops’ body cameras WILL BE OFF on Inauguration Day unless they have to arrest someone. At THAT point ~ the actual arrest ~ they can turn their camera ON.

Suddenly protesters on the Left are all worried about THEIR “constitutional rights” and, far from demanding police keep the cameras rolling to prove the police action side of the story, they’re ALL WORRIED about having THEIR OWN ACTIONS caught on camera.

They’re in public. They have no right to privacy, as they’ve so often reminded the various police departments across the country who’ve tried to impede citizens taking video from a sidewalk, as well as their DEMANDING WORKING body cams on EVERY cop in the US.

WHO protects the police against spurious and malicious complaints of violence and excessive force? Where is the police union?

This Is Insane

How is this “Justified”?

Follow the pills and you’ll find the overdose deaths.

The trail of painkillers leads to West Virginia’s southern coalfields, to places like Kermit, population 392. There, out-of-state drug companies shipped nearly 9 million highly addictive — and potentially lethal — hydrocodone pills over two years to a single pharmacy in the Mingo County town.

Rural and poor, Mingo County has the fourth-highest prescription opioid death rate of any county in the United States.

The trail also weaves through Wyoming County, where shipments of OxyContin have doubled, and the county’s overdose death rate leads the nation. One mom-and-pop pharmacy in Oceana received 600 times as many oxycodone pills as the Rite Aid drugstore just eight blocks away.

In six years, drug wholesalers showered the state with 780 million hydrocodone and oxycodone pills, while 1,728 West Virginians fatally overdosed on those two painkillers, a Sunday Gazette-Mail investigation found.

780 million pills…to a state with a population of 1.85 million.

Good lord.

Ben Stein on the post-election atmosphere: They’ve Gone Insane

I just don’t get it. People are going insane about Donald Trump being president-elect. It’s beyond the wildest anger and fear I saw even about Richard Nixon, my hero. And, as I say, I just cannot see it.

For example, this morning, I got several emails from men who had been my friends since high school. “America is going through its worst days ever,” said one letter. “We’re going to lose everything,” said another.

It gets even worse. A dear old friend — a woman who has been my close friend since the mid 1970s, a woman who never even liked Hillary Clinton much — has simply refused to speak to me since election night. Her daughter, the wife of a wealthy real estate developer, sent me hate mail election night, when she learned I had reluctantly voted for Mr. Trump.

Why are people so upset? What has Mr. Trump done that’s so awful? His choices for the Cabinet fall well within the range of the usual types — Wall Street, campaign helpers, ideological bedfellows. Despite what you may have read online, none of them has made horrible statements. None is a Klansman. None is a Nazi. They have different views from those of the ACLU, but that’s what you get in a free country.

The voters voted in a candidate with certain views. That candidate won fair and square. He gets to choose people he agrees with and who agree with him.

I have a ton of friends on Facebook, etc., and I look at what they are posting and I just shake my head in disbelief. Of course, I don’t respond and really never get involved in political craziness on FB because, well, a) it’s just pathetic how carried away people allow themselves to get when they’re not sitting in the same room with someone who has the temerity to maybe kinda sorta have a different opinion on things, and b) well as a conservative I’m just schtupid and should really just shut up for my own and Society’s Good.

And they STILL wonder why they lost.

Update: Here’s an example. The Left is screaming that “ZOMG Trump supporters boo John Glenn”

Take a listen. There’s definitely some booing when Trump mentions Mercury, but it seems to me Trump doesn’t consider these folks supporters.

The Lies Continue

The Associated Press conveniently misses a rather important fact in this story

UVA dean awarded $3M in Rolling Stone magazine case

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Jurors awarded a University of Virginia administrator $3 million Monday for her portrayal in a now-discredited Rolling Stone magazine article about the school’s handling of a brutal gang rape a fraternity house.

The 10-member jury’s decision came after they concluded Friday that the magazine, its publisher and reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely were responsible for defamation, with actual malice, of former associate dean of students Nicole Eramo in the 2014 story “A Rape on Campus.”

I’m glad she won.

But there was no “brutal gang rape.” It was a lie and fabrication. I have sympathy for this “Jackie,” whoever she is; it seems pretty clear that she has a lot of problems.

But she is a liar and has caused a lot of damage to a lot of people.

And that needs to be stated.

Signs Of The Times

or “lack there of” actually.

I hate this election, I really really do.

As has been obvious I haven’t been posting much at all just because I am so disgusted and dispirited by everything attached to and associated with it, and I know I’m not alone in this feeling. Here in Deep Blue New Jersey as I drive around I see hundreds of signs advocating various candidates for various local offices…but interestingly none for the Presidential candidates; and by “none” I do mean none. Thinking back on years past when the yards were festooned with “Gore” and “Obama” and “Bush” signs it is shocking to drive around and see no Trump or Hillary signs; and the lack of Hillary signs is especially so here in New Jersey (and frankly should be very troubling for her and her Party).

There is ONE sign in my town with her name on it, and it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement:

I’m writing in my Bride’s name on my ballot.
