Sometimes I can see youtubes, but that method is broken again. What’s this about?
It’s a pretty dramatic presentation of how 80 members of Congress have done pretty damn well be themselves, while the rest of the country has gone to poo. The list delineating their skyrocketing incomes is here.
There are as many rivers in Tucson as there are trout in Texas. There are no trout in Texas.

Lies, damn, lies, and statistics.
This video is made to mislead.
One clue: heavy reliance on percentages. This is shocking when the denominator is low, which is usually the case.
2nd clue: percentages are avoided where convenient. Video switches to real numbers to say that 223 of 535 members had their net worth increase. In percentages, 41.7% of them had their value increase. Said differently, “as home prices and 401k values for America where on the slide, 58.3% of Congress saw their net worth decline as well.”
3rd clue: Doing “analysis” on only the “successful” sub group. By leaving out 58% of the group, they try to make it seem like EVERYONE is making off like a bandit.
Lastly, look at the list and notice Louis B Gohmert, Jr from Texas. His net worth declined from -110k in ’04 to -250k in ’08. He got poorer and they put him on this list.
If these guys at the website have a good point, they failed to make it.
Excellent catch. I just logged into their FB page and asked about him, NB. He’s freakin’ poor as a church mouse and ranked in the toilet, as far as wealth in Congress goes.
They are still mostly crooks…
Good catch, Nobrainer, but Major Dad is correct. And a fair number of people on that list clearly have increased their net worth.
