How About Something CHEERFUL? A Memory From When America Was NUMBER 1?!

Do you remember what happened today many…MOONS ago?

The EAGLE FRICKIN’ LANDED
And the crowds went WILD!

Apollo11

How about a little song to savor the moment.

Let’s pause just for a second and revel in pure, unadulterated CONQUEST like it USED to be, when we could be PROUD of being the BEST at GOD DAMNED EVERYTHING…before the day goes to shit again, shall we?

    Very nice! Thanks, Sis!

  2. nightfly says:

America, HELLS YEAH. (Also, some cussing in that link. Gauge your browsers accordingly.)

  3. Gunslinger says:

I was but three months old when it all happened. Biggest worry I had then was figuring out how to focus my eyes.

  4. JeffS says:

I watched the live broadcast as Neil Armstrong stepped off the LEM ladder onto the Moon. I was a mere 12 years old.

  5. Kathy Kinsley says:

I watched the moon landing – yes, I’m that old.

Sometimes I wonder – is the present failure of the young because we no longer present them with something to reach for?

  6. JeffS says:

There’s plenty for them to reach for, Kathy. Mars, the ocean depths, etc.

People started to focus on their bread and circuses, and hence decadence set in. Things went downhill from there.

  7. Kathy Kinsley says:

No, not really. Everyone must be protected from everything now.

Mars? Ocean Depths? Can you afford the insurance you must have in case anyone gets a scratch?? The regulatory hoops you must jump through to be sure no sea life/Mars possible bacteria are harmed by (OMG) human exploration?

We aren’t ALLOWED to reach anymore.

  8. JeffS says:

Not entirely, Kathy. There are opportunities. SpaceX, for example.

But there aren’t as many genuine adventurers as there used to be. Not the thrill seekers who jump off bridges with a rope tied to their ankles. The types like Charles Lindbergh.

  9. Kathy Kinsley says:

SpaceX, and others like it, are indeed a hope – but they fight against the same restrictions I mentioned. And the first time someone dies…

And you are right, we are sadly lacking in Charles Lindberg types.

  10. Syd B. says:

Debbie Wasserman Schultz hits the bricks and the Dem Party is yet again, embarrassed by fraud.

I’m about as cheery as I can stand to be this morning.

  11. Kathy Kinsley says:

Syd, Read about the DEM National Convention. Looks like they are in as much civil war as the the RNC.

  12. Kathy Kinsley says:

And Sis… Yes we were – and are still – despite naysayers – the best country on earth.

The problem is that everyone and their brothers and sisters wants to make that past tense.

  13. tree hugging sister says:

Oh, they’re in a WORSE state, Kathy. They couldn’t even get to noon the first day without imploding. DEE-LISH-US.

  14. Michael Lonie says:

I expect the Dems will recover their unity and will to power soon. The prospect of not getting into all those lucrative, cushy Fed jobs will concentrate wonderfully what passes for the minds of the money and power-lusting Dems.
