I’m Waiting For The Protest Marches In Europe

The US is prepared to use nuclear weapons against China if it is attacked by Beijing during a confrontation over Taiwan, a Pentagon general said on Thursday.
“If the Chinese draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on Taiwan’s territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Townsend.

Man, Europe is going to go bat-shit, and rightly so. This is completely unacceptable rhetoric from such a senior official, or even a junior one, for god’s sake.
Oh wait, I got the quotation wrong:

China is prepared to use nuclear weapons against the US if it is attacked by Washington during a confrontation over Taiwan, a Chinese general said on Thursday.
“If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China’s territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu.

I’m sure the French will continue to hold joint invasion practices with them; after all, it’s really Chimpy McBushhitler who is the warmonger.

  1. Like anyone’s going to sweat something someone says whose name sounds like General ‘Shoe Shine‘.

Oh man. I do not get how people do not see China as a threat. They are building their army to one day attack the U.S. It is plain to see.
I am afraid that one day we will be in a war with China and the Left will be sitting around scratching their heads wondering how it all started. After all, we gave them everything they wanted. They needed us as a trade partner.
I have written about his quite extensively here, here and here

Nukes in response to precision guided munitions? This means that this technology is effective enough to scare the crap out of the Chinese, something that is hard to do.
I think we need more of them…..

Indeed, WunderKraut. Muslim terrorism is what it is and is a real danger, but what is really going to define the 21st century is how China continues to emerge as a global power and how the rest of the world (but especially the US, Japan and India) responds to it. It’s very worrisome, to say the least.

  5. Curtis says:

That is the thing that scares me, Dave, we keep talking about canceling all of these “Cold war era” weapons programs because they aren’t affective against terrorists.
I get so upset when I hear someone in congress talking about cancelling the F/A 22. Yeah the thing is ridiculously expensive. But nobody else in the world will be able to touch it for like 20 years.

  6. Ken Summers says:

Seems to me people have also been claiming we don’t need the SDI because the Cold War is over…
