    From what I gather the main purpose of British officialdom is to studiously ignore anything possibly disturbing or dangerous.

    I hope this is not true. One account I have read stated that they only gave a cursory look into back-packs going in. They were more concerned with bottles going in.

    One fellow who’d come in on the train to the station in the lower deck said they weren’t really paying any attention to the folks like him. They just walked on up the stairs and in, past the lines of people from the street entrances.
