    I’m guessing “no” is not a word that has been used much in that household, apart from “No blood for oil” (mind you they evidently can’t spare any of the blood for oil because they need it for his classmates’ transfusions).

    Did you notice the phrase they used to describe a summer of caring for their son, flesh of their flesh, their precious child? “…warehouse Elijah through September…” What is he, a kayak? I propose we start paddling from the top down in that family.
    PS – I was a rambunctious little monster when I was a tot; being slightly too old for pills, I was forced to learn discipline and respect. It works. Don’t blame the cranial brew: chances are, the rampant emotional swings and surges of adrenaline and hormones are what cause the imbalances, and not the other way around.
