Russia Has No Problem With Blood For Oil

They know where the power lies

The war in Georgia escalated dangerously last night after Russian jets reportedly bombed a vital pipeline that supplies oil to the West.
After a day of heightening international tensions, Georgian leaders claimed that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which transports oil from the Caspian Sea to Turkey, had been attacked. But it is thought the bombs missed their target.
Their claims came after Russian jets struck deep into the territory of its tiny neighbour, killing civilians and ‘completely devastating’ the strategic Black Sea port of Poti, a staging post for oil and other energy supplies.

But don’t worry, because Obama said “war is baaaad, mm’kay?”

What war? I was too busy watching the news cover the big exciting story that the National Enquirer broke about Edwards…
I’m still not 100% sure what to think on this. the Russians are CLAIMING that the Georgians were carrying out a genocide in Ossetia. Not at all convinced, but I want to be sure before I start mouthing off.
That said, Obama is right: war *is* baaaaaad. Too bad we don’t have any troops left to go over and play peacekeeper, huh?

Hard to play ‘peacemaker’ with Ivan; even if we had the troops sending them there would escalate this exponentially.
Nope, this is a naked grab that Putin knew he could get away with.

Amazing. Russia invades another country, and the first thing people think is, “Hey, send American troops!” This is in the EU’s own backyard. Let’s see them handle this problem first, mmmm’kay?
Oh, and by the way, Creatrix…..America is still a member of NATO, with troops still stationed in Europe. We could do something…..if the EU wants it to happen. Georgia is NOT a NATO member as yet, you might recall. That’s one thing that pi$$ed off Putin, Georgia applying for NATO membership.
Oh, and by the way…..both Georgia and Russia have to agree to peacekeepers. I haven’t heard anything even remotely related to “cease fire” from the Kremlin, so perhaps they haven’t heard that war is bad. Maybe Obama can send them a sternly worded text message.

Good point about Europe. But seriously – who’s gonna do it? Francoise and Jacques?

  5. The_Real_JeffS says:

NATO is the ideal vehicle for this……if Europe is interested and capable in dealing with Russia.
And I say “capable” because, right now, NATO isn’t doing all that great in Afghanistan. And most of the NATO countries treat their militarys as either a bastard child, a conduit for welfare, or strictly for defensive operations….and this will require offensive operations.
