Naughty goings-on at Rutgers
NEW YORK (CBS 2) — Shocking allegations of spying levied against pair of 18-year-old students exploded on the Rutgers University campus on Tuesday.
Dharun Ravi of Plainsboro and Molly W. Wei of Princeton were charged with invasion of privacy for allegedly secretly placing a camera in another student’s dorm room and transmitting a sexual encounter over the Internet.
Given how small these cameras have become I wouldn’t be surprised if this sort of stuff goes on a lot.
Update: Oh Geesh, it turns out this has gotten a whole lot uglier

A freshman at Rutgers University, first the victim of allegedly being secretly taped during a sexual encounter by two other students, is believed to have committed suicide.…According to sources, the victim from Ridgewood — whose identity PIX 11 News is withholding — is believed to have jumped off the George Washington bridge on Thursday, Sept. 23. The victim’s car was found nearby with both his cell phone and computer inside.
That poor kid and his family.

The flip side of the technology era, it appears. I must admit that had it been the case in my high school days, I might have partaken in such an act. Once or twice, at least.
Good grief! The kid committed suicide over that? Maybe he was walking on the wild side.
The “news” hints that the sexual encounter was of the same sex variety. If these fuckers drove that kid to suicide because he was ashamed, I hope they burn in hell.
Not a shining moment for my nearly alma mater. That poor kid.
Jeez, that’s sad. Those privacy invasion jerks ought to be hung by their genitalia in public.
I hope Mr. Ravi and Ms. Wei are proud of themselves now.
The sad part is if he had been in bed with a woman the 2 a**holes wouldn’t have bothered to video it and plaster it all over the internet. I live near RU and many people terribly upset.

But I think you’re giving those two jerks too much credit; I’m sure they would have videoed it as well.
You’re right – and the sad part isthese two jerks are getting their 15 minutes at the expense of another’s death – already on the Daily Mail out of the UK.
I hope their lives are ruined forever. It’s as simple as that. You look at the pictures of that kid with his violin ~ he looked like such a sweet soul and they probably despised him from the beginning. This was just another shot at him.
Makes me ill. Technology just gives these monsterous bullies one more thing to torture people with.
