A Warning To The GOP

The upsurge in the fortunes of the GOP this cycle are not because anyone is under the illusion that the GOP establishment is a bastion of fiscal sanity and governmental purity; we all remember the fiscal excesses the last time the GOP controlled Congress. The GOP has gained because the Democrats have made them look like timid amateurs in the blowout, expansive government department, and the People of America have woken up. As there is no credible Third Party as of yet the only counter to the arrogance and hubris that the party of “I Won” has displayed the past two years is to funnel energy and young, new candidates into the GOP to both win elections and to transform a compromised and fetid party structure that has, much like the Democratic National structure, become beholden to its own inertia and sense of entitlement, corrupted, as all human institutions eventually are, by and addicted to the heady reins of power and thus falling ever farther away from the principles and ideas so clearly stated in our Constitution, ideas which offered a reasoned and credible alternative to the Statist all-intrusive urban elitism of the Left.

People are not voting for the GOP.

They are voting against the government.

The GOP leadership needs to realize that cutting the rate of government growth is not going to suffice; we must cut the absolute size of government.

If in two years we do not see a smaller government on the horizon then the GOP will lose, and will deserve to lose, all of the support they are getting this year.

If the GOP goes back to its old ways and puts a guy like Jerry Lewis as head of the Appropriations Committee then that is a clear sign that the Party leadership has not heard the message the voters are sending.

As I’ve said several times this is a Six year cycle we are in: the elections of 2012 and 2014 are nearly as important as this one. We have this perhaps last chance to replace the House and Senate and get the government back under control over the course of this cycle. If the GOP leadership ignores the message being sent on Tuesday, these people must and will be replaced.

Vote Tuesday.

Vote, Remember, and hold their feet to the fire.

Our future depends on it.

    Damn freakin’ straight.

“I didn’t vote for any party; I voted to encourage gridlock.”

  2. ricki says:

Because the GOP right now isn’t about cutting spending, so sometimes I feel the best we can do is encourage infighting in the Capitol. Because if they’re busy arguing, they can’t do stuff to US.

Amen brother. But I dont hold out much hope 🙁

“They are voting against the government.”

Exactly right, Mr. B! I sent my ballot in immediately; I made a point of hand carrying it to the county election office.

And, indeed, we can not rest after tomorrow, even if the best projections come true.

It’s just the BEGINNING. They won’t all be GONE, so we have 2012 to work towards and the folks that replace them need to have both the fear of GOD AND the will of the PEOPLE reinforced repeatedly.

Exactly. Vote Tuesday, and then every day after that, we hold them accountable for what they said they’d do.
