Procession planned to honor Airman Zachary Ryan Cuddeback

O’Fallon, Ill (KSDK) — A procession has been planned to honor the life of an O’Fallon resident who was an Airmen and was killed while serving in Germany.

Airman First Class Zachary Cuddeback was one of two airmen killed when a gunman opened fire on a bus at the Frankfurt, Germany airport on March 2.

The procession for Zac will arrive in O’Fallon on Friday, March 11 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The route will be I-64 West, exiting at 19B, then north on Route 158, west on Highway 50, north on Lincoln, and west on Third Street to the home of Neal and Amelia Bevirt at 318 West Third.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Drive, with Mass beginning at 1 p.m. At the conclusion of the Mass (approximately 2 p.m.), Zac will be laid to rest in O’Fallon with full military honors, next to his Grandfather, Cecil O. Loyet at St. Joseph’s Cemetery (Keppler’s Cemetery). The procession to the cemetery will proceed south on Shadow Ridge Crossing, east on Wesley, north on Seven Hills Road, and east on O’Fallon-Troy Road to the cemetery.

“I encourage the citizens of O’Fallon to line the streets both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon to show their support for the Cuddleback family and to honor Zac’s service to our country and his bravery,” said Mayor Gary L. Graham.

Volunteers are being sought to help post 1,000 plus flags around town. If you wish to help, please come to O’Fallon VFW Post 805 at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 10.
