Remember when someone promised that as part of their “Taking Back America” they would ensure that

Barack Obama will issue an Executive Order requiring that political appointees possess relevant professional qualifications and experience related to the core mission of the agency for which they are nominated, and would restore integrity and competence to the executive branch.
Sounds great, right?

The OMB’s predominant mission is to assist the President in overseeing the preparation of the federal budget and to supervise its administration in Executive Branch agencies. In helping to formulate the President’s spending plans, the OMB evaluates the effectiveness of agency programs, policies, and procedures, assesses competing funding demands among agencies, and sets funding priorities. The OMB ensures that agency reports, rules, testimony, and proposed legislation are consistent with the President’s Budget and with Administration policies.
In addition, the OMB oversees and coordinates the Administration’s procurement, financial management, information, and regulatory policies. In each of these areas, the OMB’s role is to help improve administrative management, to develop better performance measures and coordinating mechanisms, and to reduce any unnecessary burdens on the public.
and obviously requires someone who has at the very least somewhat extensive accounting or business experience as well as managerial experience, right? So the person that President Obama has nominated to this important economic position is Heather Higginbottom. Here’s her CV
From 1999 to 2007, Higginbottom served as legislative director for Senator John Kerry. She also served as the Deputy National Policy Director for the Kerry-Edwards Presidential Campaign for the primary and general elections.
After the 2004 election, Higginbottom founded and served as Executive Director of the American Security Project, a national security think tank. She began her career as an advocate with the national non-profit organization Communities In Schools.
On November 24, 2008, it was announced that Higginbottom has been appointed the Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council in the administration of President Barack Obama.[1] On January 7, 2011, President Obama nominated Higginbottom to the position of Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
She has degrees in Political Science, Public Policy and Philosophy.

That tape is a thing of beauty. A finer surgical evisceration you may never see. But the deeper, more troubling point is how could this person possibly be nominated for this position? And how could she possibly be this unprepared for her confirmation hearing?
She doesn’t have a simple grasp of the yearly deficit figures for Obama’s budget? Are you kidding me?
This is Obama’s idea of “proven excellence” to the agency’s mission.
This is the regard he holds for government, the American People and the seriousness with which he is addressing the fiscal problems we face.

Hey, she’s a not a bad looking babe. (For a political type that is. Seeing as how politics is Hollywood for ugly people and all.) Now if Slick Willie had nominated her we’d all know what the deal was. With Obama, jeez, who knows what the hell the deal is.
Well, it’s clear that the Preshizzle, as a former community organizer Himself, is fully qualified to make appointments such as these.

She’s looking like every “wonk” model they’ve ever used in “Glamour” magazine for articles on “professionals”, so it’s GOT to be okay.

Why do you have to issue an Executive Order to do the right thing? Just freaking do it! I’d cry if I wasn’t so scared about what is coming down the road as a result of at least four years with this guy.

Actually greg I don’t think that at all and that’s just the kind of unacceptable dated sexist criticism that will be used to overshadow the very real and pressing reasons to a) oppose her nomination and b) use her as the perfect example of the type of leftist power junkie that swept into town with Obama and who his staff are using to corrupt every level of government. From every indication and report (and her resume) she’s a highly intelligent, highly driven, highly politicized political operative who has no concept of real-world experience or issues but sees everything through her lenses of big-government-is-the-path-to social-justice.
About 30 years ago, it was decided that you didn’t need actual business experience to run a corporation; all you needed was an MBA because business followed certain immutable laws, regardless of what you are selling or producing. The result has been an absolute decline of quality and performance in the business and banking sectors. Similarly, it is apparently a truth universally acknowledged that all you need to be a governmental appointee is good connections and the right academic credentials. You don’t actually need to have done anything except hang out with others like yourself and say the right things to the right people. This poor girl is a living embodiment of that mentality. I’m sure she means well.
Well, wasn’t that fun! She is completely out of her element and clearly has no business being nominated for this position. Aside from looking like she is about to be somebody’s fantasy stripper she is not remotely qualified for this job. As NJ Sue states there is this idea that an MBA makes someone a business expert. I would see Marines with all kinds of degrees e.g. English, History Underwater Basket Weaving enroll in MBA programs and I would ask them “what do you know about business?” the answer would be nothing so I would ask them “how can you be getting an MBA?” The answer would be just because. Not to suggest you can’t go that route but it seemed odd that you could do that with no prior business experience and then be considered an expert.

I’ve run across this type in the Health services – they have all the qualifications and authority, but haven’t a clue.

Checking out the leftward head tilt, and the obviously scripted replies, she thinks she’s the smartest person in the room. I mean, does she really think that she can get away with bullshitting people at this level?
If she’d done her homework about her job, and not the fancy footwork replies, she may have gotten through.
Unfortunately, the ‘seeming’ and not the ‘being’ has been her first choice in tactics.
