I Second That Opinion

I thought it was pretty odd behaviour myself.

Now, another point: It is critical, in my view, for the Florida Bar to investigate the behavior of Zimmerman’s former lawyers. Those are the birds who “resigned” from the case yesterday, saying they couldn’t get in touch with their client. In fact, they had been out of touch a day and half, hardly a long period. Paul Callan, a former New York prosecutor and a CNN legal analyst, was on TV today to say how dismayed he (and other lawyers) are at the behavior of these attorneys. They appeared on TV to announce that they’re leaving the case. They all but said that Zimmerman was mentally unstable, something highly inappropriate for counsel to say in public. They said that Zimmerman had fled the state of Florida. In fact, he surrendered to authorities in Florida today. They prejudiced public opinion against their own former client.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zimmerman had fired them.

Plus, the prosecutor is behaving more than a little erratically.

Maybe they all want a share of that bounty offered by the National Black Panther Party?

    Lawyers are scum.My brother
is an attorney,he’s not scum, but 90% are wretched, lying leeches on the body of the common man.

    Ambulance chasers.

  4. Gunslinger says:

Zimmerman has zero chance of getting a fair trial.

  5. Skyler says:

As a lawyer I was pretty shocked at their statement.

So it looks like win or lose, Zimmerman is going to be rich from libel lawsuits against NBC and others and possibly from a malpractice suit against his lawyers.

  6. tree hugging sister says:

Rich from libel suits won’t help if he’s in the hoosegow for years thanks to this completely manipulated situation. That’s if he SURVIVES his first three weeks in the hoosegow thanks to the NETWORKS.

What a gross misacarriage of justice. They’re going to have to go to f*cking Minnesota’s north woods to find 12 people who might not have heard of Obama’s skinny son being shot by a fat, racist white guy.

I say he gets aquitted or they throw the whole thing out and then we have another Rodney King like outburst of riots. Stock up on ammo, for you shotgun types, #4 buckshot is most effective.

Also – Illinois proper breaks up into distinct demographics – the Chicago/Springfield vs “Downstate” animosity is legendary – or it would be except the Chicago/Springfield axis controls the story.

  9. AliceH says:

wrong thread… duh. I blame Friday the 13th. And Bush.

They probably took the case and, only after giving it some thought, realized that it would consume all of their time for a long time, and that they might not get paid. Better to withdraw early, rather than later, when the court might not permit it.

  11. Skyler says:

Sure, Jim, but they had no reason to make a spectacle of withdrawing.
