It’s 10 P.M.

Do you know where your kids are?

TIJUANA, Mexico — The bodies of four U.S. citizens were found strangled, beaten and stabbed in a van in this border city, two days after they reportedly left their Southern California homes for a night at the Mexican clubs, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The victims, ages 19 to 23 years old, were found tied up on Saturday, but their deaths were not reported earlier because they were under investigation, said Fermin Gomez, an assistant state prosecutor in Baja California.

For God’s sake, stay on the north side of the border, kiddies.

    Oh god, how horrible.

That was the advice we gave the troops in Fort Bliss, in spite of the cheap drunk available in Juarez. And that was back in 1979.

I wouldn’t go to TJ these days for love or money. As for Ciudad Juarez, it is to laugh. Even the Mex Feds don’t go there without serious backup, like tanks…

  4. For Pete’s sake, I knew enough not to stop in TJ even when I was a little kid. If you want to drive south of the border from CA, for the love of God, don’t touch the brake until you hit Rosarito Beach, or better, Ensenada.
    Better yet, stay home.

The drug cartels have larger armies than the Mexican government has and they control much of northern Mexico. Although they supposedly limit their violence to those in the drug culture, this is going to be less and less likely as they grow in power. So far there has been no sign that they will not continue to grow in power.
This is not 1979. It is much much worse than even then. I wouldn’t go there without at least a platoon of heavily armed national guardsmen.

Their deaths were not reported because Mexican authorities were hoping to get away with not reporting them..
