It’s Funny How “Ironic” Irony Can Be

Canadian Border guard shot at “Peace Arch”

A Canadian border services officer was shot and seriously wounded by a gunman who then fatally turned his weapon on himself at the Peace Arch crossing south of Vancouver, police say.

Much as 100% of school shootings in the US occur in “gun free zones.”

Hopefully she’ll pull through.

    I grew up just south of Blaine. The Peace Arch is in a very nice park. The Arch itself was built to commemorate the lack of war between Canada and the United States for over a century.

    What they don’t talk about is the drug running that is rampant in that area (Vancouver, BC, is a major drug transfer node); a major anti-war riot that resulted in the park being vandalized and trashed; and all the never ending dramas associated with a major international border crossing.

    So while this is a tragic event, it’s far from rare. There isn’t all that much “peace” in the Peace Arch Park.

    Here’s a brief history, provided by the city of Blaine.

    “Peace is the Platonic Ideal we infer from the fact that there have been occasional lulls between wars.”

    Truer words have never been spoken, mojo.

    @mojo. Too true.

    @article – well, at least he saved Canada untold dollars in hunting him down and prosecuting him. Then putting him in prison for a few years and letting him out to try again…
