Smart Power: “F**k the EU” Edition

So now we have the spectacle of the Soviets, sorry, the Russians I mean, recording the conversations of our Diplomats and somehow it finds its way on to YouTube

A leaked phone call posted on YouTube caught Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland saying “f—k the EU” while speaking with U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt. Nuland used the expletive while complaining that the European Union hasn’t done enough to get Ukraine to break an agreement with Russia and instead sign on to a trade agreement with Europe.

Yes, if that name sounds familiar it’s because it is: Victoria Nuland first came to fame as Hillary’s Benghazi Talking Points Editor, so she is fully steeped in the Obama Tradition of Excellence.

Anyhoo, so the Vladster decides, while I’m sure humming his version of “Anything the NSA can do the KGB can do better”, to give a little Reset Button of his own to Obama and releases this tape.

Naturally, Obama and the State Department react in exactly the wrong way: they apologize for what she says.

The State Department’s top official for Europe apologized today after being caught making a crude and dismissive remark about the European Union, one of America’s top allies.

Are you kidding me?

The proper response is “We expect, in fact we demand, candor amongst our employees in their private deliberations. You can and you should hold them to a high standard for their public comments and actions but if your delicate sensibilities are upset by what individuals say in their private conversations than I would strongly suggest that you shouldn’t listen to them.”

This is Vlad’s way of saying, “F**k you, America!”

I imagine that it’s especially tasty to him, seeing that Victoria is probably a Very Special Person as far as Billary! is concerned.

As for the apology … … Victoria is just the latest Obama Fan™ tossed under the bus for the sake of … … whatever. Sometimes I think Obama’s flying monkeys do that just for the fun of it.

A yes, it reminds us of those apologetic words of Barack Obama, made during his July “08 Berlin “I’ll save the world” visit.

“In Europe, the view that America is part of what has gone wrong in our world, rather than a force to help make it right, has become all too common. In America, there are voices that deride and deny the importance of Europe’s role in our security and our future. Both views miss the truth – that Europeans today are bearing new burdens and taking more responsibility in critical parts of the world; and that just as American bases built in the last century still help to defend the security of this continent, so does our country still sacrifice greatly for freedom around the globe.”

This is more smart diplomacy, just like appointing ambassadors to Argentina, Hungary, Norway and friggin’ CHINA who know nothing about those countries (and don’t get me started on Caroline Kennedy as ambssador to Japan).
