Someday, Schmaybe, We’ll Get to Quit Singing It, Too

Everybody else seems to get their shot, right?

A Couple of Points about McChrystal [Rich Lowry] I’m just reading the piece now, but a couple of very quick points based on the coverage:

1) Rolling Stone? Rolling Stone???

UPDATE: Drudge has him RESIGNING! No link yet…

I read the article and I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as some are portraying it. I think it’s a hatchet job meant to create controversy and if it takes down a career soldier, it’s not like Rolling Stone is going to give a damn about that.

The only direct quote worth dinging McChrystal on is about Biden and that one is not a firing offense. The quotes about Obama are someone else’s words attributed to McChrystal.

I’d suggest you don’t just take other people’s words on this one. The subhead is a flat out lie, and any article that starts that way should either be dismissed out of hand or at most read very carefully.

I just used it as an excuse to post the video, Dave.

And used Rich’s quote…’cause it’s just funnier than shit. {8^P

  3. Cullen says:

Yeah, but the entire tone of the article is one of insubordination. Whether or not that was real or the author’s fiction, the reality is that McChrystal got too friendly with a reporter and it bit him on the ass.

  4. tree hugging sister says:

I’ll give you that, Cullen, based on the few things I HAVE read. They were step back and “WHEW!” Not professional in the least and at THAT rank? Sorry, Charlie. So I have to believe this was a calculated assault and he knew exactly what heat was coming down afterward. Deferring, again, to Rich’s quote.

Why Gen. McChrystal would give a reporter from Rolling Stone the time of day is beyond me.

  6. Gary from Jersey says:

McChrystal should have known Rolling Stone has all the credibility of the Weekly World News and taped the interview. Or someone on his staff should have done at least a cursory background check on the reporter and magazine. Had he/they done so they maybe would have learned that being in print doesn’t necessarity mean the story’s factual.

That said, if the quotes are true and accurate then McChrystal knew he was dealing with Obamorons and acted accordingly.
