Most Glorious Leader finally set one off

SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) — North Korea fired two short-range missiles from its east coast Tuesday — a day after conducting a nuclear test — South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported, citing a South Korean official.
“The North is continuing its saber-rattling,” the unnamed official said.
The firings came a day after the reclusive communist state conducted a nuclear test and fired another short-range missile.

So now NK has been allowed to go nuclear. Don’t you feel safe? But don’t worry!

The U.N. Security Council condemned Monday’s nuclear test as a “clear violation” of international law.
…At the United Nations, Security Council members took about an hour Monday to express their unanimous condemnation of the move. Russian ambassador Vitaly Churkin called Monday’s test “very serious” and said it “needs to have a strong response.”

The UN has their best scribes scribbling furiously even now on a very strongly worded response.
And in the vigilant tradition of UN-o-philes everywhere our own Glorious Leader is expressing “grave concern”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said on Monday that nuclear and missile tests conducted by North Korea were a “grave concern to all nations” and a legal violation that warranted action by the international community.
“North Korea’s attempts to develop nuclear weapons, as well as its ballistic missile program, constitute a threat to international peace and security,” Obama said in a statement after Pyongyang conducted a nuclear test and reportedly fired a short-range missile.

I mean, I really hate to quibble, but, dude, NK is not “attempting” to develop nukes; they have developed them.

The nuclear test was a major diplomatic challenge to Obama at a time when he is facing a global economic crisis and working to curb Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, which the West fears is aimed at producing nuclear arms but Tehran says is for energy.
Obama vowed when he took office to extend a hand to troublesome countries “willing to unclench your fist” but so far he has had little success with North Korea or Iran, which have continued to advance their nuclear programs and showed little interest in renewed dialogue.

And why should they stop? They know the West has now lost it’s spine and will do nothing but issue strong letters to dissuade them.
Sorry Japan. You’re SOL.
Once again Trey Parker and Matt Stone are five years ahead of the asswipes at Foggy Bottom.

Well, here we go again. Another idiot wreaking havoc on the free world-why??? BECAUSE WE LET THEM! In this new age of modern weaponry and radicalism, we must ask ourselves one question:
    WHAT WOULD TRUMAN DO???
I, for one, am a decent, law-abiding, LEGAL American who is beyond fed up with all of the bleeding-heart Liberassholes who insist on letting the idiots of the world terrorize the rest of us who just want to live our lives in peace.
Since America is so interested in appeasing the religious beliefs of nations who are Hell bent on destroying America and our way of life, we should take a look at what those religions say in their writings about how to deal with those who pose a threat to them. HMMM? We already know how Muslims deal with outsiders, but if you look at the Bible, God himself had serious repercussions for evildoers. Why then do Americans not stand up and fight for OUR freedoms and OUR religion?
Because common sense has been overshadowed by GREED. Our so-called “leaders” have wheeled and dealed away any rights we had left of defending ourselves against such evildoers through their shady business dealings with the nations that support said evildoers.
Yes, it all comes down to MONEY! Somewhere, there is a politician whose pocket is being lined through illicit business dealings with radical nations. THAT my friends is the TRUTH!
So, fellow patriots, ask yourselves, WHAT WOULD A REAL AMERICAN PATRIOT DO?
I just WISH the decision was up to ME!!!!!

Just what the hell do you do with North Korea? Tactical strikes are out of the question, not with them having the fourth largest military on the planet and its neighboring countries, South Korea, Japan and China all having massive economies. Squeeze them? The US has been trying that but China keeps propping them up. So did the now-dead ex-South Korean president along with his predecessor (both Leftist) with the disastrous now-defunct Sunshine Policy under which North Korea developed their nukes. Negotiate with them? Ha! They’re serial users and lairs as has been proven time and time again.
There are two positive developments, however. Recent photos of Kim Il-sung have him looking very old – no doubt he’s been deteriorating rapidly since his stroke last year. Also, the missiles test fired, according to Daniel Pinkston (no link, it was on CNN TV), were surface to air and surface to ship – meaning they couldn’t be used on Tokyo or Seoul. Pinkston reckons they were more a deterrent to foreign vessels monitoring the air after the nuke test. Also, much of this would be to get the DPRK firmly on Barack’s radar, which with the help of CNN having an orgy over it lately, could well happen.
It’s appearing more likely change will have to come from within the DPRK regime and with Kim looking like he’s on the way out, there just might be a slim chance for either some useful regime policy changes, from within, and, if we’re really lucky, a total collapse.
With the historically unprecedented indoctrination since the armistice, it appears most unlikely the population themselves will rise up en masse. Not with the gulags, not with the propaganda, not with North Korea’s unique blend of Communism mixed with Confucianism in a patriarchal society that (at least half of) the Korean psyche just couldn’t resist.
PS Don’t ask what Truman would do. Nuking them is out of the question (radioactive fallout on South Korea and Japan – and the winds can blow all the way to the States [Yellow Dust phenomenon]). And what about any DPRK military retaliation? Too big a risk with the fourth largest military running around. Plus that’s mass genocide; no Western government could do that in this modern era, let alone Obama [and he’ll probably be in for two terms]). Also, Truman’s the idiot who pulled MacCarther back and created the 38th parallel in the first place.

    “Sorry Japan. You’re SOL.”
Not really. The Japanese know Obama is completely useless on NK–even more so than Clinton or Bush, which is saying something–so they’ll flip the on switch on their own nukes (which they could assemble in a matter of months) and assemble missile defenses without sending any money to US defense contractors.

  4. ktjo says:

And how much US and International Aid Money, for its impoverished and starving population, will it take for North Korea to cease developing its nuclear proficiency?
Old trick, ‘new’ faces..wait for it.

  5. Liam1306 says:

Isn’t this all similar to an old man with one non-refillable prescription of viagara – at a female teenage slumber party?
No matter how “big, empowered, or manly” the old man of the PDRK thinks he is, it is only an “opium dream.”
    Keep “underground testing.”
You can get the same results by sinking the appropriate amount of conventional explosives underground and like some of the opposing gender just faking the big “O.”
What a dufus; power is feeding, not starving the citizens of the country you represent.
It is all fake, it is all staged.
Every country with nukes becomes an immediate target plan of every other country with nukes.
Let us all share a nuke, or two, or three on PDRK.

  6. Somehow all the talk of how Kim is a crackpot eccentric, while Obama is portrayed as all-knowing and wise doesn’t quite square with reality when the “crackpot” is running circles around our flawless messiah.

This is the same Obama that was apparently busy with his puppy-vetting process or playing basketball while the Russians where nabbing our Afghan supply air-base in Kyrgizstan.

Obama is endangering our national security, a failure of his most primary duty as president… maybe we should draw a line here?

Obamania’s sheeple are deeply delusional, and as the misguided Obama’s enablers, these fools are going to get us killed.

Man, I really wish you’d put up my post. What was wrong with it? I really needed to link to it tonight, and (my bad) I didn’t save it, thinking there wouldn’t be a problem.
    You’ve seen me Blair’s, right?
(whhoops! sorry bingbing! I don’t get into the ‘junk’ folder as much as I should)

  8. bingbing says:

Thanks, Mr Bing. Just a slight correction…
Recent photos of Kim Il-sung have him looking very old
Actually, the old man has been embalmed et. al. and is still looking quite crisp from what I’ve heard.
I meant Kim Jong-il. Call it a Freudian slip. Sorry, it was just before bedtime and there wasn’t an opportunity to have it peer-refused.

Dave J… and in the face of a “more real” NK nuclear threat…?
    Interesting times.
