…The newest CAT scans and DNA tests revealed a pharaoh weakened by congenital illnesses finally done in by complications from the broken leg aggravated by severe brain malaria. The team said it isolated DNA of the malaria parasite — the oldest such discovery.
“A sudden leg fracture possibly introduced by a fall might have resulted in a life threatening condition when a malaria infection occurred,” concluded the article in the Journal of the American Medical Association. “Tutankhamun had multiple disorders… He might be envisioned as a young but frail king who needed canes to walk.”
Like his father, Tutankhamun had a cleft palate. He also had a club foot, like his grandfather, and suffered from Kohler’s disease in which lack of blood flow was slowly destroying the bones of his left foot.
Sometimes the whole “king” thing is overrated.

It makes you wonder how anyone can accept the rule of hereditary monarchs. The man is not at fault for his maladies, but there’s no reason he should have been singled out for special status.
I hope mankind is never again subject to such a silly way to choose a ruler.
So much for the always flaunted theory that humans were “healthier” before we became more tech savvy. heh.
BTW – I’m now LMAO – I remember seeing Steve do that song the first time on SNL way back in the day. Hilarious. For those too young to remember – there was a HUGE touring exhibition of King Tut stuff from Egypt going around the country and it was all real cool to know about it and go see it. I still think Steve’s take on it was the best I’ve ever seen.
Sounds like a bit too much royal inbreeding was going on.
