The Downside To Maturity

It really really is wonderful to see Daughter grow in to such a charming young lady. She handled having four wisdom teeth removed this week with remarkable grace and aplomb, and has suffered through a chewing-is-verboten week of soft food with good-natured dignity and humor.

The downside to this coming-into-her-own mushiness is that whereas before I could have slopped apple sauce and oatmeal into her food trough now she wants to partake of our mussels!

I had to cook about 5 lbs last night for all of us

This new era of shared sacrifice is going to be difficult, Friends.

Note to self – remind splendid Niecimus Maximus to ask for lobster next – appropriately soft, nutritious and delicious.

Well, you can always give her a shovel and drop her off in the bay to dig her own. Not that anyone would do that to his child, of course.

You shelled out clams for mussels? That must have been like pulling teeth for you.

    They do look tasty, though.
