I’ve been waiting for this moment for years. I invented a barf emoticon, which I mainly use for instant messaging during work calls. Here it is:, sideways:

This problem has existed for years, and NOW it’s a concern to the media? When the Rio Olympics have been scheduled for, what, 8 years? Way to go, “media”.
Were I an Olympic athlete, I’d refuse to swim in that poison.

But a better view of the Rio Games can be gained by a good scan of The Onion’s review, which says it all about this complete waste of borrowed money which, seemingly, is about Global Politics as much as drug-fuelled athletic endeavour. The most apposite statement is given with the comment:-

@Jeff. Yeah – I think a boycott of athletes might be in order there.
Funny thing. First world countries, which are constantly castigated for ruining the environment, don’t seem to have the astronomical levels of pollution that countries like Brazil have. And yet the US is the one getting all the bad press. (OK, China. They come in for their share of blame.) But it’s time the major offenders got more attention and criticism.
