NJ Gang Warning Text Considered ‘Urban Legion’

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Police in northern New Jersey believe recent text messages warning about an upcoming gang initiation is nothing but an urban legend.

The text, sent to dozens of high school students in Newark and Elizabeth, warns “Oct. 21st starts gang initiation week they are rumored to try to kill 140 Woman.PLZ FORWARD This can save our women!”

Now back to our regularly scheduled clinging.

    Oh, and slightly unrelated but not: every time I get one of those damn e-mail “forwards” bent on “saving” me from something, I want to do a “reply all” (yes, the hated “reply all”) and say: “SNOPES, bitches! Learn it, live it, love it!”
