Sen. Burris Cites Unwritten Constitutional ‘Health’ Provision to Justify Forcing Americans to Buy Health Insurance
Wednesday, November 04, 2009
By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter(CNSNews.com) – when asked by CNSNews.com what specific part of the Constitution authorizes Congress to mandate that individuals must purchase health insurance, Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) pointed to the part of the Constitution that he says authorizes the federal government “to provide for the health, welfare and the defense of the country.” In fact, the word “health” appears nowhere in the Constitution.
“Well, that’s under certainly the laws of the–protect the health, welfare of the country,” said Burris. “That’s under the Constitution. We’re not even dealing with any constitutionality here. Should we move in that direction? What does the Constitution say? To provide for the health, welfare and the defense of the country.”
Seems he is a Constitutional Scholar on par with our President and Vice President.

More Republican lies. Health is certainly mentioned in the Constitution. I’ll cite one mention as a starter:
If you take the fourth letter of the Constitution, the fifth letter, the tenth letter, and then the 14th and 15th letters, you spell the word “helth.” This is without even getting past the first line of the preamble. The document is filled with numerous other mentions of health, often times using the modern/correct spelling.
Everyone knows that spelling was an optional matter back in the 18th century.
You guys should cut Burris some slack and realize that if you’re not a Constitutional scholar, you’re not allowed to read it because you obviously don’t have the skills to come to a full understanding of it. Misleading commentary like you’ve given here can only result in misinformed and rebellious subjects.
Now he can carve “Constitutional Scholar” on his tombstone, too! So it’s a win!
I can hardly wait to start missing this Congress.
Ouch. That was a low blow, Mr. Bingley. LOL.
it is Kinda funny how Burris insists to this being what The Constitution mandates.
Hehehe, I thought you might get a chuckle out of that, don!
I won’t miss the clown one bit. I’ll probably break out some high end tequila when he’s booted.
The Chicago Political Machine sure cranks out the idiots, huh?
