The Best Part Of Waking Up…
Much to Sis’s chagrin (and you do NOT want to see the abuse I had to endure from her on IM) I had the very great privilege of meeting up with the Pure Gentleman of Crab Apple Lane and just look what he treated me to
coffee and beignets from Morning Call
nomnomnom!
Good stuff. Wish I’d had more time to show you some of my other favorite things.
PS – Mr B didn’t mention that these were hot out of the vat.
Grooooan… Nothing like deep-fryer pr0n to get me going first thing in the morning…
As the old saying goes, they’re “not just for breakfast any more”, Julie. This was 3PM.
In Hawaii, you can by these things off a roadside truck called, “Malasadas”. Is that what you have pictured here? My mouth is watering and belt stretching, just thinking of them
They are somewhat similar, Syd.
Any type of yeasty dough that’s fried and covered with sugar is a-ok in my book.
They were super hot, fresh and tasty indeed Rob.
We have Crescent City Beignets down in Houston, and it’s… okay… but somehow beignets just taste better in Nawlins.
I’m still mad at the Morning Call leaving New Orleans for Metairie in 1974.
But they’re back in the City Park post-Katrina, which is where we went Aelf.
They may have to move out of Metairie now, aelfheld. They’re in another lease dispute. That’s why they moved out of the Quarter in the first place. Seem to be doing fine in City Park, though.
