It ain’t your turn, Jeb. Stay home.

  2. aelfheld says:

We no more need another Bush in the White House than we need another Clinton in the White House.

  3. Ebola says:

How’s coming to another country with next to nothing not being a risk-taker, exactly? Takes more balls to uproot and move leaving everything behind than virtually anything else in society.

The only caveat is that doing so illegally just verges on stupidity unless conditions at home involved mad max style killer gangs.

    Jeb is right, sorry.

  4. Gunslinger says:

Meth cookers and dealers are risk takers, as well. Shall we start lavishing fortunes on them as well?

  5. JeffS says:

LEGAL immigrants take that risk, Ebola. ILLEGAL immigrants are a different matter. Because they are NOT legal.

  6. Gunslinger says:

Illegal aliens are no different than thieves, vagabonds, and criminals skulking about looking to enrich themselves at the expense of American citizens.

  7. Ebola says:

And where did I say reward illegals? Do tell.

GS, absolutist statements like that is what winds up getting the GOP in trouble. Namely because there are plenty of times that is blatantly untrue, both legally, logically and ethically. Take Public Law 89-732 for example. People who technically entered illegally were recognised as legal applicants, their sins absolved, provided they were fleeing oppression and tyranny was recognised by law. They took huge chances in trying to leave and chancing the death of their family and selves in doing so. Given the drug cartels composite control in Mexico, the hypothesis that the same situation exists from non-nation state players in the region influenced a percentage of our current illegal population from that area.

So why is one ethical and correct, while the other not? What makes one more of a risk?

I won’t even touch the inanity of the meth strawman, lol.

I’m with Bush on this, too. Immigration control as most of its proponents espouse now is nothing more than “let’s close the gate now that we’re all in”. It’s immigrants and descendants of immigrants trying to impose limits on immigrants. It’s hypocritical to say the least.
