Remember

We do. Thanks to Gramps…

..Uncle Nat…

…and major dad’s dearest Pop, who tromped the vicious beaches of the South Pacific, from Saipan to Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Remember all the fellas young and old, male and female, who’ve worn those gorgeous uniforms and fought for the most glorious colors EVER on the face of the earth.

And keep those in harm’s way now ~ our nephew Creature, our Skyler, L.C. Aggie’s hubbie among them ~ safe as safe can be.

God bless our troops, past, present, and future.

Both my mom and my dad are buried at Barrancas…which is a beautiful cemetery.

That’s where Uncle Nat is, skh and barrancas is, indeed, one of the most beautiful, bar none. We love it dearly.

God bless your folks, dear friend.

    Special thanks to..

My uncle Paul, one of the original Seabees, who followed major dad’s father around all those tropical paradises in the Pacific.

Uncle Carl, a fighter pilot, who didn’t survive the war that followed the, you know, war to end all wars.

    Bless everyone of you.

It seems that the only thing we can’t seem to remember is that the “peace in our time” folks are responsible for the death and destruction of millions of people with their head in the sand attitude. I saw a promo on WGN the other night where some woman was wearing a “people for peace” t-shirt. Countries sporting an “armed and dangerous” logo will find they don’t have to use them.

    Rant concluded. Sorry.

Donna hasn’t put it up here, but she did on Facebook, so I just stole it:

“Lt. William Jacobus, Helicopter Pilot, shot down in Vietnam, 1968, left college and volunteered, thought it was the right thing to do – he was my cousin. Capt. George Kelly, 2 Bronze Stars in the Liberation of the Phillipines – passed away last year – my Uncle.”

Here’s to Cousin Bill, Uncle George, Uncle Paul (who might well have known Pop the Seabee!), Uncle Carl and the Real JeffS’s dapper dad. A glass raised to you all!
