Or…What?

David Cameron is not Qadaffi. But I sure wish he was Bibi Netanyahu and would tell Obama to go suck a stone…

Another slap in the face for Britain: the Obama administration sides with Argentina and Venezuela in OAS declaration on the Falklands

President Obama was effusive in his praise for the Special Relationship when he visited London recently, but his administration continues to slap Britain in the face over the highly sensitive Falklands issue. Washington signed on to a “draft declaration on the question of the Malvinas Islands” passed by unanimous consent by the General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) at its meeting in San Salvador yesterday, an issue which had been heavily pushed by Argentina. In doing so, the United States sided not only with Buenos Aires, but also with a number of anti-American regimes including Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela and Daniel Ortega’s Nicaragua.

The declaration calls for Argentina and Great Britain to enter into negotiations over the sovereignty of the Falklands, a position which London has long viewed as completely unacceptable. It also comes in the wake of increasing aggression by the Kirchner regime in the past 18 months, including threats to blockade British shipping in the South Atlantic…

This administration is…words escape me.

    ‘Anti-American’ fits the bill.

  2. Mr. Bingley says:

    Un goddamn fucking believable.

    This is complete crap.

  3. Mr. Bingley says:

Cameron should say “ok, here’s our negotiating position: Fuck you.”

  4. JeffS says:

    Aelfheld nails it.

But I’d keep Mr. Bingley’s answer.

  5. Dr Alice says:

Wait WHAT?! I don’t believe this. Why on earth would Obama side with the OAS on this?

  6. JeffS says:

Jimmy Carter already gave away the Panama Canal, Doc. And Obama can’t hand Guantanamo Bay Bay back to Cuba, he needs some place to stash those terrorists.

Besides, this way, he can piss on the Brits again. For President Jug Ears, it’s a win-win.

  7. Arcadio says:

Thoes ilands belong to argentina anyway, just because UK, took possesion of them, it doesn’t meand it belong to them.

  8. Mr. Bingley says:

Er, because Britain has possession of them it quite well does mean they belong to Britain. They have NEVER been a part of Argentina. The English were the first to colonize them and the Spanish Crown relinquished them back to Britain in 1811, nearly 15 years before “Argentina” came in to being.

    So you are quite wrong.

  9. tree hugging sister says:

    Jeez, history’s just a bitch, isn’t it?

  10. David Crawford says:

Oh Bingley, quit confusing the boy with facts.

  11. Skyler says:

It was bad enough thet Reagan refused to help the Brits expel the Argentineans back in the 90’s.

I wonder what other disastrous policies will ensue. Perhaps we’ll give Alaska back to Russia or reform the Hawaiian monarchy, and return Texas to France.

  12. Ave says:

Somebody fire those shots! Ring those bells! Warn the British Obama is coming and nobody’s going to take away Argentina’s islands!

  13. Skyler says:

OOPS! I was typing in the dark and my eyes don’t see too well. I obviously meant to type “in the 80’s”

  14. Michael Lonie says:

Well the Argies could just invade again. I’ve been expecting a crisis about the Falklands ever since the Brits began downsizing the RN from its already shriveled size in order to meet the urgent need for more welfare payments. Having dismantled the Royal Navy, especially its carriers and amphibs, Britain could do damn all to reverse an invasion this time. Besides, such disposable military power as Britain retains is in Afghanistan, so is not available for emergencies elsewhere. Of course Britain is now sharing a carrier with France, the Charles de Gaulle. I doubt the French would agree to send her to the Falklands to have a go at bashing the Argies, even if she wouldn’t be certain to break down once she gets out of sight of land.

I expect the half-assed Peronistas running Argentina are in economic difficulties again. That’s generally when Argentine governments start thumping the tubs over the Falklands. Look at Galtieri.

“I expect the half-assed Peronistas running Argentina are in economic difficulties again. That’s generally when Argentine governments start thumping the tubs over the Falklands. Look at Galtieri.”

    DINGDINGDING
    we have a winner!

  16. Skyler says:

Only about 3000 people live on the Falklands, excluding military.

It would be very, very easy right now for the Argies to invade and deport every single person. The Royal Navy is not expected to get its aircraft carriers for another five years. By then, the islands will be resettled by Argentina.

And then what will the Brits do? How many Falklanders will want to go back? They’ll be used to living somewhere else by then.

When you get rid of your military capability, you promote more violence.

  17. Mr. Bingley says:

No, Skyler. Everyone knows that disarming leads to peace and reconciliation and bridge-building and a marked increase in butterflies.

    Neanderthal.

  18. major dad says:

Next they will be telling the Aussies to give it all back to the Abos. I predicted that the Argentines would go after the Falklands in do time. As Skyler says the Brits can’t do a thing about it.
