Reason #498 Why This Idiot Should Never…
…Ever be on anyone’s “Vice President” short list; except maybe Obama’s
No more super-sized Cokes. Forget about 64-ounce stomach-busting sodas at KFC. Even 20-ounce Snapples are on Mayor Bloomberg’s latest heath-conscious hit list.
In a dramatic move to reduce obesity, the city is going to become the first in the nation to impose a 16-ounce limit on the size of sweetened beverages sold in food establishments that receive letter grades from the Health Department, as well as mobile food carts.
The list includes more than 20,000 restaurants, as well as movie theaters, stadiums and arenas.
Bloomberg posed for a photo-op yesterday where he used sugar cubes as props to highlight how sugary the drinks are.
He’s such a whiny over-bearing nanny.
What the . . . .?
This guy is really missing a few screws.
Sky, he’s the same guy who wants to kill thousands of industrial jobs in Staten Island so his friends can walk along the river where the businesses used to be.
I predict a sudden upsurge in “buy one beverage, get one free” promotions. And lawsuits.
Ooh, i like that thinking, ‘Fly!
And here we thought all the nuts were in California…
The nuts, they do seem to like to like large oceans, don’t they, Major Dad?
I’m simply amazed the population of the city hasn’t hung him yet.
Mojo, I suspect that a great many of Bloomberg’s Nanny Laws are simply ignored. Or the inspectors are bought off.
On the other hand, there has to be some breaking point on what the idiocracy can impose. One can pretend for only so long.
I wish somebody would drown Bloomie in a vat of Coke.
Hey, look at the bright side, Mr B! Sis will be able to hit a Dunkin’ Donuts if she ever visits Nannyville again!
I predict the rise of the two 12 ounce soda value meal. When public nannies go against incentives unintended consequences result..,
What an ass-hat.
But if you drink Unsweetened Beer can you still get a big glass?
You people clearly have too little respect for your betters. Michael Bloomberg has made billions of dollars in a articular business. That means he is both smarter and morally superior to all of us. So we need to just listen to his transcendent wisdom an do as he tells us. It’s for our own good, after all.
So if someone goes to 7-11 and picks out a Big Gulp cup, will there be surveillance to check he’s not a vicious criminal getting regular Coke instead of Coke Zero?
I think he’s jumped the shark with this one. Even brain-dead New York liberals might begin to see what is being done to their country. Nah.
Bloomberg’s taken “The City That Never Sleeps”, and turned it into “The City That’s in Bed By 8:00”.
The Founders would wonder why we haven’t treated this git to a tar-and-feathers body wrap…
This guy is a raging butt-trumpet deluxe. I want my giant-ass soft drinks, mofo!!
Sure, everyone in the city will be in perfect shape. EXCEPT people will then smuggle in drinks from neighboring states that are larger than the allowed maximum. So he will next start bugging them to pass the same law. He will start sending undercover pop cops to pop shows in Arizona, as it will still be legal there and they will sneak pop in from 1800 miles away.
“the city is going to become the first in the nation to impose…”
Yes, because that’s the role of government, to impose burdens on law-abiding citizens about how big a cup they can drink from. Isn’t that the most absurd thing you’ve ever heard? What business does government have imposing anything without the consent of the governed? When did government become the master instead of the servant? Remember, there is no law being broken here by anyone. Arrogant, pissant bastards. They’re a cancer that needs to removed from our body politic. The hubris is mind-boggling.
Unfortunately, this is in part the public’s fault. The more people insist that government pay our bills (in this case, for medical expenses), the stronger the case for the state controlling how said people run them up. The first task may be supplanting Bloomberg, but the harder work will be changing the welfare state mindset of most of our neighbors.
Obligatory responsible conservatism complete, and now: YES, I want to see this self-important, obnoxious vest-pocket tyrant harried from pillar to post!
Some reporter needs to ask him if it will be legal for a consumer to buy two beverages and then pour them into the same container. If I owned a convenience store in NYC, I’d sell 32oz cups and offer a BOGO1/2 deal on 16oz drinks.
Let’s run this up the flagpole and see who salutes:
the “Camelback O’ Coke”
What I don’t understand is why New Yorkers keep voting for this nag.
Bloomberg exhibits a peculiarly leftard form of psychopathology. Just who does this jerk think he is, telling free American citizens what they can eat and drink? Oh yeah, we know, he and his goons think they can do anything they want because they’re in public office. At some point this kind of tyranny must, and will, meet with its long overdue reward.
I think some enterprising young capitalist should market sugar packets that one could carry around in their pocket or purse to add to their diet soft drinks. They could call it “Nanny B’s” poison powder
[…] of play on the blogosphere and Twitter on this subject: the Swillers, Morgan Freeberg, and IMAO for starters. Good. I hope Bloomberg is driven from the field in […]

I’m simply amazed the population of the city hasn’t hung him yet.
That explains why one of the first things he did when taking office was to outlaw rope…
This was a wonderful and bracing thread. I also learned that Bloomberg is a “raging butt trumpet deluxe.” That is a truly sublime — and accurate — insult. Thank you 🙂
I didn’t make the connection until now, but I went to the Wawa (local convenience store) the other day and noticed a sign saying the big-size cups were behind a counter or something–to restrict access? I hope not! I have to go back and double-check that.
Once the law has gone into effect, anti-nanny-state protesters in NYC should set up a table to sell 32-oz cups of soda in front of City Hall. Press releases to news media and police should ensure rapid and visible arrests. Other soda teams would be waiting in the wings to set up a new table and continue selling the 32-oz soda once their brethren have been dragged away. If the police cordon off the mayoral palace to prevent this defiance of the War on Soda, the show would have to be moved to a position beyond the perimeter. As they’re being arrested, the protesters should shout pro-freedom, pro-soda and anti-nanny-Bloomberg slogans. The video would go on YouTube. The project requires lots of soda, ice, tables, and persons willing to be arrested for selling illegally large amounts of soda in a single container.
NO BUBBLES! NO JUSTICE!
