Nah. Eventually you’ll get seen. They catch creepy “uncles” all the time now.

Sex sting in Poconos nets former chief U.N. weapons inspector

A former chief United Nations weapons inspector is accused of contacting what he thought was a 15-year-old girl in an Internet chat room, engaging in a sexual conversation and showing himself masturbating on a Web camera.

Scott Ritter of Delmar, N.Y., who served as chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991-98 and who was an outspoken critic of the second Bush administration in the run-up to the war in Iraq, is accused of contacting what turned out to be a Barrett Township police officer posing undercover as a teen girl.

As Jonah Goldberg points out, this isn’t Creepy Uncle Scott’s first bow job…

If memory serves, a lot of Scott Ritter’s fans used to get very angry with anyone who ever mentioned his sex crime history because the cases were sealed and that should be respected.

Hopefully they’ll take away his rosin for good this time.

I forget. When he was crusading against the ee-ville Boooosh and Co., was he considered an ultimate moral authority?

Looks like he took the “do it for the children” line a bit too seriously.

Scary, and extremely embarrassing. I still do not understand how guys allow themselves to get caught up in Internet sex stings. Even worse, with a minor. It’s beyond my level of comprehension ’cause I just don’t get how a grown man can actually allow his mind to play tricks on him to this degree.

    Just ruined.

He has apparently been allowing “his mind to play tricks” for a long time, judging by his previous behaviour:

2003: Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter was secretly prosecuted in Albany County in 2001

Different source: WXXA (TV) in Albany broadcast an interesting report – Outcome of Ritter Sting Case Unusual (items in {} are interviewee quotes):
Police say they caught him trying to meet young girls over the internet…but former U.N. Weapons inspector Scott Ritter never spent a day in jail.

Legal experts say that’s unusual…most others accused of similar crimes meet a much different fate.

Jeffrey Johnson serving 7 years in prison…nabbed by police in 1997 for trying to hook up with a 12-year old girl he met on the Internet.

Robert Rodriguez facing up to 15 years behind bars…for a similar crime involving a 14 year old.

Former U.N. Weapons inspector Scott Ritter caught in 2001 for allegedly trying to meet a 16 year old girl he chatted with online.

But Ritter’s a free man…his case adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.

…The NY Post’s Page Six on Scott Ritter and the NY Times in All the News?
Readers of the New York Times, as of yesterday, still hadn’t been informed of Scott Ritter’s sex-sting arrest. Ritter is the former UN arms inspector who has lately been defending Saddam Hussein to become a darling of the anti-war movement. The news of his arrest nearly two years ago – allegedly for trying to lure a 16-year-old girl he contacted on the Internet for sex – broke a week ago in the Schenectady Gazette. The Post and many other newspapers carried the story after the Associated Press had it on Tuesday. But not a word in the Times. When The Post’s Fred Dicker called Ritter the “Pee-wee Herman of the anti-war movement” on the Don Imus radio show yesterday, Imus said Dicker was being “unfair to Pee-wee.”

The hilarious thing is THIS 2003 blog entry, which claims it’s all Boooosh‘s fault. You know, they set poor Creepy Uncle Scott up because he was the WMD ultimate moral authority.

…So the police just happened to conduct a “sex sting” operation against the one man who had exposed the lies of our war-mad rulers from the inside. On the eve of war, as hundreds of thousands protest in the streets, this staunch Republican and solid family man who has become one of the War Party’s most formidable enemies is suddenly “exposed” as a child molester.

(“War mad rulers”. Oh, God. I’m holding my side.)

“Exposed” being the operative word. “Suddenly”, not so much, I’m thinking.

    He just likes little girls.

It occurs to me that this surely qualifies Ritter for permanent employment by the United Nations.
