   I sometimes read the PNJ at the store when I’m curious about what sort of tripe they’re publishing, but I wouldn’t buy one (and haven’t, in years). The paper is staffed with liberal ideologues and rarely even publishes letters to the editor that clash with their leftist plank…which illuminates their bias, since our area leans heavily conservative and I imagine that they receive plenty of negative feedback.

   Oh, they are insufferable. And, quite frankly, down to about six pieces of paper with BIG PRINT and LARGE SPACING filled with their own advertizing, completely befuddled as to “why”.

   But the thought of no newspaper with coffee? Can’t do it. We get the NYT on Sunday, as well. Know your enemies, plus that little slice of civilization is comforting on our cultural Panhandle island here.

   Yep, the front page section also has USA Today content to take up even more space. And I remember a time when advertising in the editorial section was an unheard of practice.

   The last time that I ventured in a comment section at the PNJ website, I was impressed at how vocal and shrill local liberals are in that forum.
