Despicable. Show your religious affiliation under your uniform blouse and on your own damn time.

You’re a Marine when you’re on duty, representing the United States of America ~ NOT the Presbyterians, the Jews, the Atheists, Muslims, Pastafarians or Venusians, and religious bric-a-brac has no place on that uniform. Period.

ths notes: Last I HEARD, your religious preference (or lack thereof) is ON YOUR DOG-TAGS. WEAR them and SHUT UP.

    Wow. Just wow.

  2. tree hugging sister says:

I can’t say shit about the Army again, ever, Jeff. Ever.

    And THAT hurts.

    Holy Mother.

  3. JeffS says:

Well, you CAN say shit about the Army; the Army deserves it. And you didn’t bring this latest goofiness about. So you, personally, still have the moral high card.

    Still, though…..wow.

  4. JeffS says:

By the way, I shared this with my cousin the retired Marine. I expect to hear cursing any time now…..

  5. Mr. Bingley says:

“Show your religious affiliation under your uniform blouse and on your own damn time.”

    exactly right.

  6. Skyler says:

I remember the air force has had a problem in recent years with a quiet intimidation against those who didn’t have certain religious beliefs. Could that start up in the USMC? Will a commanding officer notice that one of his Marines from his church isn’t wearing a religious badge and hold it against him?

I don’t hide that I’m an atheist, but I try not to bring it up everyday or when I first meet someone because of the negative reaction that sometimes engenders. Will my failure to wear a religious symbol “out” me at every first meeting I have with another Marine?

I think this is horrendous. We might as well start requiring all the Jews to wear yellow arm bands.
