Giving Transportation Security Administration agents a peek under your clothes may soon be a practice that goes well beyond airport checkpoints. Newly uncovered documents show that as early as 2006, the Department of Homeland Security has been planning pilot programs to deploy mobile scanning units that can be set up at public events and in train stations, along with mobile x-ray vans capable of scanning pedestrians on city streets.
They are quite simply out of control.

It’s older than that. Guys have been patrolling city streets with scanners wince at least 2003. I know this because one found a dirty bomb under and East River bridge that New Year’s Eve. God knows what else they found.
I think that’s more a radiation detector, Gary, right? A guy in my office was pulled off a subway car by heavily armed cops not long after September 11th…because the scanners in the subway tunnel detected the residual radiation in his body from the stress test he had had the night before.
This goes way way beyond such passive scanning.
I wonder if I can bring them some bedbugs on my return trip.
Heard this on the radio this morning. If they are actually going to randomly x-ray people, then everyone who contracts cancer after this practice begins should begin screaming and pointing fingers at the government.
I mean, they don’t put a lead apron on you at the dentist’s for NOTHING.
No, you get charged a SHITLOAD for THAT.
Just think of the poor law abiding citizen with a concealed weapon permit that gets scanned and some TSA pinhead spots a pistol and calls in the SWAT guys. What could go wrong I ask?

Mr. B: Yeah, there were radiation detecters, but an old friend who works for Homeland in Newark told me they’re also using chemical sniffers and a kind of X-ray dingus. They’re in briefcases.
Yes, they are, Gary. I can’t find the link, but there’s a DHS organization that monitors for a lot of things besides radiation.
And guess what, folks? The mobile X-ray machine is already deployed.
