I’m sure Boehner knew exactly that it was a big day for football, and that’s probably why he counter proposed that day.
A joint session is a congressional matter, but if the invited speaker is the President, then it is the President that will get mocked for trying to compete with football.
(And shouldn’t that be “muy” and not “muli?”)

Petty all around. Are Wednesday and Thursday next week really the only two nights on the calender? What’s wrong with Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, tonight? What is wrong with everyone?
Remember a year ago, Joe Wilson yelled, “you lie” during Obama’s speech on Healthcare? If he did it this year, I wonder how long the standing ovation would last. Actually, wouldn’t it be funny, if a Congressman, secretly listening to the football game on his bluetooth earpiece, yelled out, “Touchdown”. I’d be on the floor.
I’m getting more and more convinced that Obama gets his style from Hugo Chavez. He’s on TV all the time too.
At least Hugo can deliver a speech and even sing (sort of). Obama can’t even talk without stammering and sounding lost.
