What An Asshat

There’s really no other way to describe it. And not for his conversion; I don’t give a rat’s ass about that. No, it’s for pearls of wisdom like this

US filmmaker Sean Stone, son of Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone, converted to Islam on Tuesday in Iran, where he is making a documentary, he told AFP.

“The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with. It means I have accepted Mohammad and other prophets,” he said in a brief telephone call from the central Iranian city of Isfahan, where he underwent the ceremony.

“The conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with.”

Yeah, I’m sure that’s how his new co-religionists look at it.

Update: Sounds like his dad would feel right at home in this camp too

A vast conspiracy is afoot. At least according to Egyptians who believe certain Israeli products are being imported into their country for the sole purpose of rendering Egyptians infertile. First it was shampoo allegedly laced with chemicals, now designer jeans harboring “secret magnets” are designed with one purpose — sterilize Egyptians. According to Sinai Bedouins like Muhammad Al-Mane’i, “Israeli products contain lethal poison.”

Little Ollie’s SCal double speak isn’t gonna go over real well in the land of “we hang apostates”, so he might want to get free and clear before he espouses coexisting.

What a douche, but I blame the village idiot that raised him.

  2. JeffS says:

Clearly, dhimmification isn’t good enough for Stone, huh?

  3. nightfly says:

That freakin’ Liam Neeson trying to steal my thunder! I’ll show HIM.

Why would we bother with shampoo or blue jeans? We’ve got the neutron bomb.

  5. Yojimbo says:

Are those special designer jeans a bug or a feature?

Maybe he should do one of those “ask an Imam” thingies about the meaning of “Infidel”.

I’m sure he will stop in and say hello to one of those many Christian churches and synagogues in Iran while he is there. Maybe sorta hop between Islamic and Jewish services.

  6. Gunslinger says:

Utterly pathetic how some people can so casually jump on to a belief system as onerous as islam like trying out the latest smartphone.

  7. Michael Lonie says:

They don’t take seriously the “Death to apostates” stuff. They think it’s no more serious than converting from Catholicism to Scientology, another popular cult in Hollywood. All they think it is, is a fad.

Maybe Stome thinks that four wives, and even easier divorce for men than in California, is an attractive prospect. He should remember that four wives means four mothers-in-law.

  8. Ave says:

Maybe it’s not about religion at all. Maybe he “converted” to avoid arrest, being paraded to the West as a spy and being thrown into an Iranian jail for years.

  9. JeffS says:

That’s a possibility, Ave, and certainly on a par with the historical treatment of infidels under Islam, of which Iran is a leading proponent.

But given the general asshattery that Hollywood denizens have displayed in the past, I believe that Stone is sincere when he says he volunteered.

    Who’s ‘they’?

Sayed Mussa is proof that Musselmen take it very seriously indeed. If Stone doesn’t, that’s just an indication of the depths of his ignorance.

    Next up from Oliver Stone,

“Any Given Sundae: How the Jews Are Poisoning Your Ice Cream.”

As for the little Stone, I wonder if he witnessed any gay men being executed while he was in Iran. That could be a little awkward at the next Hollywood party.

  12. NJSue says:

Umm, you’re not born into Christianity. You have to be baptized. A minor point, but still…..

  13. Greg Newson says:

NJSue:I think what he meant was his dad is half-Jewish and half-Christian.But,that’s like being half-pregnant,isn’t it?
But,I’ve heard Howard Stern say the same about himself.

  14. NJSue says:

The topic of religious inheritance is interesting. You can’t “inherit” Christianity through any bloodline (in Christ there is no Jew or Greek, no slave or free etc.–I’m roughly paraphrasing), but I seem to remember hearing that you inherit Judaism through your mother. Which is interesting because it’s such a patriarchal religion in its origins.

  15. Michael Lonie says:

    Aelfheld,
“They” refers to idiots like Stone, as I thought was plain from the reference to people from Hollywood thinking that conversion to Islam, like conversion to Scientology, is a fad.
