Strike threat at Hostess could kill off Twinkies
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread heads to court Tuesday to try to throw out its union contracts, in a battle that leaves the iconic baker’s future very much in doubt.
I’m not sure that a World Without Twinkies is a world worth living in.
Just a month ago I thought they went out of business. Why would anyone go on strike when the place has gone or is going under?
Yet another reason to curse unions.
Just wait till the foodies, the “we want you all to exist on broccoli and water” brigade, all the haters of pleasure get hold of this news.
If Hostess/Intercontinental/whatever goes away, I’d be willing to bet, though, that there will be some other concern willing to purchase the rights and recipe to Twinkies.
Twinkies are the ultimate survival ration.
Twinkies have a shelf life somewhere around a thousand years, they’ll be around for awhile.
OMG. Please no – it’s one of the few things my father will still happily eat. (See JeffS’ comment about survival rations)
Yeah, I’m now doing elder care (why I don’t post much anymore) – and I’m absolutely appalled at the complete lack of research about elder loss of sense of smell (and smell is MOST of taste) and how to find things that WILL be accepted. (And, no kidding, yes – Twinkies qualify. Luckily I’ve found a few other more nutritious things that also do – but the twinkies are a TREAT.)
P.S. Obligatory addendum for the sake of this site. Oddly enough, Scotch also qualifies. 😉 (Unblended more so…)
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
What will be there for me when I finally snap and try to set a Guinness record for the single highest trigliceride reading ever recorded?
Scotch and Twinkies. Mmmmmm.
Parasites always kill off the host.
LOL @ Gary. But you know, I just tried it (have Scotch in hand, snitched a twinkie). And it’s not a bad combination.
Had to drink the Scotch after the Twinkie (a necessary refill, I assure you), though–sweets aren’t really my thing. (My shame, since I’m a computer nerd and supposed to be able to live on the things…).
P.S. Dick Clark died today. I thought he’d remain young forever…
Anyone else here remember American Bandstand? “It has a beat, you can dance to it.”
