Makes Me Want To Beat A Poster With A Shoe

Either they’re extras from a bad Charlie Chapman movie or they’re Assad loyalists

A video uploaded to YouTube this week purports to show captured members of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s shabiha militia, with their mustaches half-shaven off, chanting “Allah bless the Free [Syrian] Army.”

The enforced shaving of the ostensible Assad loyalists, a mark of disgrace and humiliation in Arab culture, presumably took place after they were captured by Free Syrian Army forces.

“A mark of disgrace and humiliation in Arab culture.”

They seem to have a lot of those.

Do we have any marks of disgrace and humiliation in our culture?

Other than being current on your mortgage, I guess.

Driving a Yugo comes to mind…

A “coexist” sticker on your Prius?

  3. leelu says:

    …heck, just the Prius.

  4. Dave E. says:

    An “Obama ’08” bumper sticker?

  5. aelfheld says:

    No, no, no.

The above are things we would find embarrassing.

In the culture at large we are to be shamed if we fail to belong to any of the approved victim groups or, even worse, fail to trade on that membership.

Try an “Obama ’12” bumper sticker, Dave. My neighbor has one. Bleah!

aelfheld, if you express it that way, you’ll get blank looks from the lefties. I had a conversation with a young couple at the Tea Party booth we had at the local Independence Day fair. They asked about minority oppression (among other things), and I tried to explain the victim mentality. It bounced right off them.

  7. leelu says:

    Jeff, no victims, just volunteers.

  8. JeffS says:

So I gathered from those two yesterday, leelu.

  9. Dave E. says:

Good point, Jeff. ’08 could be a mistake if you are able to give an enormous amount of the benefit of the doubt. ’12 is inexcusable.
