   All I remember of my Desert Storm pep talk from our platoon leader was “we expect to reach Phase Line Cherry within a week and then reach Phase Line Smash in the next week”. Four hours after we went through the Iraq border we passed Cherry then about ten hours later we passed Smash.

   There, but for the grace of God went we undamaged.

   Rest in Peace to those who never knew such a luxury.

   Jeff, that’s a pretty amazing story. Actually both of those give a sense of what a completely different world it was back then. Thanks both.
